Types of roles and work locations

We are seeking nurses for full-time, part-time and casual positions in nursing stations, health centres and newly or soon-to-be-opened First Nations-led primary care centres.

We also offer fly-in and fly-out opportunities to work in some of the most beautiful and culturally rich remote and isolated First Nations communities in British Columbia.

Nursing stations

Community health nurses (CHNs) in remote nursing stations work in an expanded scope of practice, providing primary care as well as public health, health promotion and emergency care (including after hours on-call care).

The FNHA nursing stations are located throughout the province, from coastal rainforests, to pristine river valleys between towering mountains, to wide open boreal forests. The nursing stations are staffed by two to four CHNs, working in full-time, part-time or casual positions. Part-time CHNs in nursing stations fly-in and fly-out of remote communities on a four-week rotation on an annual average of 0.5 FTE.

The FNHA Presents: Nursing Done Differently

Health centres

CHNs in health centres provide a comprehensive range of nursing services, including in health promotion and disease prevention. Their practice aims to build the capacity of individual, family and community wellness.

They work with communities to develop and implement relevant, culturally-centred interventions, providing services in clinical, home and community settings. CHNs in this setting are not on call and do not provide emergency services. Part-time (0.5 FTE), full-time and casual positions are available.

Current nursing stations & health centre locations include:
