الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ، عَلَّمَ الْإِنْسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمُ۔ وَ الصَّلوٰةُ وَ السَّلَامُ عَلٰى سَيِّدِ الْعَرَبِ وَ الْعَجَمِ، أَمَّا بَعْدُ۔

اس دور میں تعلیم ہے امراضِ ملت کی دوا ہے خونِ فاسد کے لیے تعلیم مثلِ نیشتر

صدر عالی مقام، حَکَم صاحبان اور سامعینِ عِظام!

میری گفتگو کا موضوع ہے ’’اسلام میں تعلیم کی اہمیت قرآن و حدیث کی روشنی میں‘‘

اسلام میں تعلیم کو بہت اہمیت حاصل ہے، بغیر تعلیم کے دنیا کا کوئی نظام چل ہی نہیں سکتا، یہی وجہ ہے کہ قرآن پاک کی پہلی وحی ’’اِقْرأْ‘‘ میں پڑھنے کا حکم دیا گیا ہے، دوسرے احکام بعد میں آئے۔

آئیے سب سے پہلے تقابلی انداز میں تعلیم کے مقصد پر روشنی ڈالتے ہیں؛ تاکہ اسلام کا نظریۂ تعلیم واضح ہوکر ہمارے سامنے آجائے۔ افلاطون نے اخلاق کی تربیت کو تعلیم کا مقصد بتایا ہے، ارسطو کی نظر میں تعلیم کا مقصد پُر خلوص نیکی کے ذریعہ شادمانی کا حصول ہے، ہربرٹ اسپِنْسر نے کہا تھا کہ تعلیم کا مقصد مکمل زندگی کی تیاری ہے، کارْل مارْکس کا نظریہ تھا کہ تعلیم کا حصول اس لیے ہو؛ تاکہ اقتصادی و سیاسی نظام وجود میں آسکے، گاندھی جی کی نظر میں تعلیم کا اہم مقصد یہ تھا کہ اس کے ذریعہ غیر طبقاتی نظام وجود میں آسکے، رابیندر ناتھ ٹیگور کے نزدیک تعلیم کا مقصد بچے کے ذہن کو قدرتی ماحول سے روشناس کرانا تھا، جبکہ اسلامی نقطۂ نظر سے خالص رضائے الٰہی کی طلب، مقصدِ تخلیق کے منشا کو پورا کرنا، خود اچھے اخلاق سے آراستہ ہونا اور دوسروں کو آراستہ کرنا، علم کی روشنی سے جہل کی تاریکی کو دور کرنا، نہ جاننے والوں کو سکھانا، بھٹکوں کو راہ دکھانا، حق کو پھیلانا اور باطل کو مٹانا تعلیم و تَعَلُّم کا مقصد ہے۔

سامعینِ بزم!

اسلام میں تعلیم کی اہمیت کیا ہے؟ اس کا اندازہ اس سے کیجیے کہ ایک طرف قرآن میں خوفِ خدا کی بنیاد تعلیم کو قرار دیتے ہوئے فرمایا گیا: ’’إنَّمَا یَخْشَى اللهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الْعُلَمَآءُ‘‘ تو دوسری طرف حدیث میں مرد و عورت کی تعلیم کی فرضیت کا اس طرح اعلان ہوا: ’’طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ فَرِيْضَةٌ عَلٰى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ وَّ مُسْلِمَةٍ‘‘ جہاں اللہ نے ایمان والوں اور اہلِ علم کے درجات بلند کرنے کی بات ان الفاظ میں کی: ’’إِنَّما يَرْفَعِ اللّٰهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْكُمْ وَ الَّذِيْنَ اُوْتُوا الْعِلْمَ دَرَجَاتٍ‘‘ وہیں رسول اللہ ﷺ نے تعلیم کا راستہ اختیار کرنے والوں کو جنت کی خوشخبری ان الفاظ میں دی: ’’مَنْ سَلَكَ مَسْلَكًا فِيْ طَلَبِ الْعِلْمِ سَهَّلَ اللهُ لَهٗ طَرِيْقَ الْجَنَّةِ‘‘ اسی علم کی بدولت سب سے پہلے نبی حضرت آدمؑ کو سجدے کے قابل بنایا گیا اور سب سے آخری نبی حضرت محمدؐ کی دنیا میں تشریف آوری کا مقصد تعلیم دینا بتایا گیا، آپؐ نے فرمایا: ’’وَ إِنَّمَا بُعِثْتُ مُعَلِّماً‘‘ بے شک میں ایک معلم کی حیثیت سے بھیجا گیا، ابوداؤد کی روایت ہے کہ ’’علم سکھاؤ؛ اس لیے کہ علم کا سکھانا نیکی ہے، اس کا طلب کرنا عبادت ہے، اس کا مذاکرہ تسبیح ہے، اس پر بحث کرنا جہاد ہے، اس کا خرچ کرنا تَقَرُّبِ الٰہی کا ذریعہ اور نہ جاننے والوں کو بتانا صدقۂ جاریہ ہے۔‘‘

تعلیم سے آتی ہے اقوام میں بیداری ہے علم کے پنجے میں شمشیرِ جہاں داری

میں آپ کی توجہ اس طرف مبذول کرانا چاہتا ہوں کہ ہمارے نبی رحمۃ للعالمین ﷺ نے بچیوں کی صحیح تعلیم و تربیت کرنے والوں کو جنت کی خوشخبری دی ہے، کیوں؟ اس لیے کہ کسی بچے کو پڑھانا ایک فرد کو پڑھانا ہے؛ لیکن کسی بچی کو تعلیم دینا پورے خاندان کو تعلیم دینا ہے، آپ ہمیں بتائیے کہ دین کی مکمل جانکاری کے ساتھ بچیاں اگر عالمہ نہیں بنیں تو جہالت کے دلدل سے خواتین کو کون نکالے گا اور حضرت عائشہؓ کا رول ادا کرنے والی خواتین کہاں سے آئیں گی؟ یہی نہیں بلکہ نبیٔ رحمتؐ نے بغیر کسی مرد اور عورت کی تفریق کے آج سے چودہ سو سال پہلے میڈیکل تعلیم کی ترغیب دی، غور کیجیے کہ شریعت کے دائرے میں رہتے ہوئے اگر بچیاں ڈاکٹر نہیں بنیں گی تو عورتوں کا علاج مردوں کو کرنا ہوگا اور جینٹس ڈاکٹر کی نظر لیڈیز پیشینٹ کے جسم کے ان حصوں پر پڑے گی جس کو نہ ہم پسند کرتے ہیں اور نہ ہماری شریعت۔

علم انسان کو انسان بنا دیتا ہے علم بے مایہ کو سلطان بنادیتا ہے علم جسے دے خدا اسے توفیق بھی دے ورنہ علم انسان کو شیطان بنا دیتا ہے

آئیے ہم آپ کو بتاتے ہیں کہ ہمارے دوسرے تعلیمی رہنما قرآن و حدیث کی روشنی میں تعلیم کے بارے میں کیا کہتے ہیں؟

حضرت ابوبکرؓ نے فرمایا: ’’علم پیغمبروں کی میراث ہے۔‘‘

حضرت عمرؓ نے بتایا: ’’طالب دنیا کو علم سکھانا ڈاکو کے ہاتھ تلوار بیچنا ہے۔‘‘

حضرت عثمانؓ نے سمجھایا: ’’برباد ہے وہ علم جس پر عمل نہ کیا جائے۔‘‘

حضرت علیؓ نے دکھایا: ’’شرافت عقل و ادب سے ہے نہ کہ مال و نسب سے۔‘‘

حضرت معاذؓ نے کہا: ’’علم کا سیکھنا نیکی اور اس کا سکھانا عبادت ہے۔‘‘

امام محمدؒ نے واضح کیا: ”ہمارا علمی مشغلہ بچپن سے موت تک ہونا چاہیے۔“

امام شافعیؒ نے اعلان کیا: ’’علم کا حاصل کرنا نفل پڑھنے سے بہتر ہے۔‘‘

امام غزالیؒ نے بتایا: ”بھلائی کی تعلیم میں والدین، اساتذہ اور مربی سب کو اجر ہے۔‘‘

شیخ عبدالقادر جیلانیؒ نے فرمایا: ’’حکم بدلتا ہے علم نہیں، حکم منسوخ ہوتا ہے علم نہیں۔‘‘

امام زہریؒ نے سمجھایا: ’’علم کا قیام ہے تو دین و دنیا قائم ہے۔‘‘

حضرت عطاؒ نے کہا: ’’علم کی ایک مجلس گناہ کی ستر مجلسوں کا کفارہ بنتی ہے۔‘‘

حضرت زرنوجیؒ نے اعلان کیا: ”علم ہی کی بدولت حضرت آدمؑ کو فرشتوں پر فضیلت ملی۔‘‘

شاہ ولی اللہؒ نے واضح کیا: ’’تعلیم کا مقصد معاشرے میں اسلامی رسموں کو رواج دینا ہے۔‘‘

حضرت تھانویؒ نے فرمایا: ’’دین کے مراکز ہی اس وقت اسلام کی بقا کی ایک صورت ہیں۔‘‘

حضرت مودودیؒ نے بتایا: ”انقلابِ امامت کے لیے انقلاب تعلیم ناگزیر ہے۔“

سرسید احمد خانؒ نے اعلان کیا: ”ہمارے دائیں ہاتھ میں قرآن، بائیں ہاتھ میں سائنس اور سر پر توحید کا تاج ہوگا۔“

مولانا ابوالکلام آزادؒ نے کہا: ”مقصدِ تعلیم معاشی مسائل حل کرنا نہیں، انسان کی تعمیرِ نو اصل ہے۔“

مفکّرِ اسلام علی میاں ندویؒ نے رہنمائی فرمائی کہ: ’’مدرسے اپنا کام چھوڑ دیں تو زندگی کے کھیت سوکھ جائیں اور انسانیت مرجھانے لگے۔“

آئیے عہد کریں کہ ہم اپنے معاشرے سے جہالت کی تاریکی کو دور کریں گے، علم کی روشنی گھر گھر پہنچائیں گے، اپنے بچوں کو معیاری تعلیم دیں گے اور اس حقیقت کو سچ کر دکھلائیں گے کہ:

اے علم تیری ذات سے دنیا کا بھلا ہے دنیا ہی نہیں دین کی بھی تجھ پہ بِنا ہے

وَ مَا عَلَيْنَا إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ

قائداعظم محمد علی جناح ایک وکیل، سیاست دان اور بانی پاکستان تھے۔ پاکستان میں انہیں قائداعظم، یا “عظیم رہنما،” اور بابائے قوم، یا “بابائے قوم” کے طور پر جانا جاتا ہے۔

قائداعظم محمد علی جناح 25 دسمبر 1876 کو کراچی، پاکستان میں پیدا ہوئے۔ انہوں نے لندن میں لنکنز ان سے قانون کی تعلیم حاصل کی اور بیرسٹر کی حیثیت سے پریکٹس کرنے کے لیے 1896 میں ہندوستان واپس آئے۔ 1913 میں، انہوں نے انڈین نیشنل کانگریس میں شمولیت اختیار کی اور برطانوی ہندوستان میں مسلم اقلیت کے رہنما کے طور پر تیزی سے مقبولیت حاصل کی۔

قائداعظم نے پاکستان کے پہلے گورنر جنرل کی حیثیت سے خدمات انجام دیں اور نئی قوم کی تعمیر کے لیے انتھک محنت کی۔ ان کا انتقال پاکستان کی آزادی کے صرف ایک سال بعد 11 ستمبر 1948 کو ہوا۔

قائداعظم کا قوم کے نام سادہ پیغام تھا: اتحاد، ایمان اور نظم و ضبط۔ ان کا خیال تھا کہ یہ تین چیزیں پاکستان کی ترقی اور ترقی کے لیے ضروری ہیں۔ ان کی میراث آج بھی پاکستانیوں کے دلوں میں زندہ ہے

“میں صحیح فیصلہ لینے پر یقین نہیں رکھتا، میں فیصلہ لیتا ہوں اور اسے درست کرتا ہوں- قائداعظم محمد علی جناح

“ہم مسلمان ہیں اور ہمارے کچھ مذہبی عقائد اور ذمہ داریاں ہیں جنہیں پورا کرنا ضروری ہے۔ لیکن اس کا یہ مطلب نہیں کہ ہم اس ریاست کے شہری نہیں اور قانون سے بالاتر ہیں۔ قانون ہم پر اسی طرح لاگو ہوتا ہے جیسا کہ کسی دوسرے شہری پر ہوتا ہے۔ دوسرے شہریوں کی طرح حقوق اور مراعات کے حقدار ہیں اور ہم بھی قانون کی پاسداری کے پابند ہیں۔” – قائداعظم محمد علی جناح

“پاکستان کا مطلب نہ صرف آزادی اور خود مختاری ہے بلکہ مسلم آئیڈیالوجی کو محفوظ کرنا ہے، جو ہمارے پاس ایک قیمتی تحفہ اور خزانہ بن کر آیا ہے اور ہمیں امید ہے کہ دوسرے ہمارے ساتھ اشتراک کریں گے۔” – قائداعظم محمد علی جناح

“کام، کام اور صرف کام، کامیابی اور خوشی کا راز ہے.” – قائداعظم محمد علی جناح

“ایمان، نظم و ضبط اور فرض کی بے لوث لگن کے ساتھ، کوئی بھی قابل قدر نہیں ہے جسے آپ حاصل نہیں کر سکتے۔” – قائداعظم محمد علی جناح

اب ہم سب پاکستانی ہیں نہ کہ بلوچی، پٹھان، سندھی، بنگالی، پنجابی وغیرہ اور آپ کو اپنے آپ کو اس عظیم قومی اور یکسانیت میں ڈوب جانا ہے۔

In conclusion, Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s speech and quotes reflected his strong belief in the unity, integrity, and solidarity of Pakistan, the importance of democracy and social justice, and the need to work towards the betterment of the nation. He will always be remembered as the father of the nation and a great leader who fought tirelessly for the rights of Muslims in British India and the creation of Pakistan.

URDU SPEECH COMMUNITY OF KARNATAKA AND THEIR CHOICE OF MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION

2021, AMU Journal of Language and Media Discourse

This paper attempts to analyse the choice of Medium of Instruction (MI) made by the Urdu language speaking minority community of Karnataka. The pros and cons of their choice of Medium of Instruction at school, be it Mother Tongue, Official language or Associate official language. It is analysed within the paradigm of new nation, modernity and changing linguistic attitude. This paper calls for a shift from language maintenance through education to education for social and economic development. The paper proposes that the development of home language and the socio economic development of the linguistic minority communities are two different things. Therefore, they need separate domain specific approach to language. The paper takes a pragmatic approach to educational and socio economic development of Urdu language community. The paper focuses on the language choice made by the Muslim students of Government, aided and unaided schools in Karnataka. The paper does not include the choice available in the Madrasas.

The issue of language in Pakistan is not just related to linguistics. It has far more implications for cultural, economic, political, and social dimensions of Pakistani society. The current paper studies the latest language policy of Pakistan and its implications for local languages. It then relates to the formation and implementation of a (certain steps) feasible language policy to root out the conflicts and ethnic clashes from time to time in the country, and discusses ways to survive the language shock of majority of students in Pakistan, who are taught English as compulsory subject up to 14 years of education despite the puzzling phenomenon of cultural aversive attitudes towards English language by the masses. The employed teaching methods and curriculum in the institutions of Pakistan, for decades, have only been successful in maintaining the gap between the privileged English speaking people and the hardcore anti-English sentiments. In this battle for linguisticidentity crisis and supremacy, a lot of national talent has been wasted. This paper briefly reexplores the situation of languages in the country on the first step, and then it moves on to focus on the national policy, its flaws, and it possible ways out by bringing in examples from Chinese and Indian Language Policies.

INDIAN EDUCATIONAL REVIEW Vol. 53, No.2 July 2015 India's linguistic diversity makes language planning both complex and flexible for the number of languages available in schools in India is perceived both as a problem and a merit. India's language policy in school education, the three language formula emerged as a political consensus in the 1950s has become the guiding principle in fostering linguistic harmony among the languages and linguistic groups, though its implementation has been seen as unsatisfactory on many counts (NCERT, 2005a). The strategy of three language formula advocates mother tongue based multilingualism where the medium of learning is the mother tongue or the home language of children while it attempts to equip learners with functional proficiency at least in three languages at the end of ten years of schooling. This paper presents how the medium of instruction in school education is implemented in terms of policy provisions, status of implementation, its problems and place and role of English as a language and as a medium of instruction in schools based on the data collected for the research study conducted by the author at the national level during 2009-2011. It is disturbing to find that number of languages used as medium of instruction has been reduced to 47 from 60 during the last two and a half decade (Srinivasa Rao, 2008; Meganathan, 2011). 33of 35 states / provinces claim to offer English as a medium of instruction; this is more than any other language, but number of schools offering English as a medium of instruction is very less as compared to Indian languages as medium of instruction. The paper then moves on to discuss how the language policy acts as an instrument for exclusion of languages, particular minority, minor and tribal languages as media of learning as well as a subject even in primary years of learning. The paper also suggests ways to prevent the languages being thrown out of the school system and the need for recognizing the importance of medium of learning through the mother tongues while providing quality learning of English as a language in schools.

In Pakistan, people can often speak three languages (Urdu, English, and a regional language). The de jure policy of the country encourages vernacular languages, but the de facto policy encourages the use of English and Urdu. No attention is paid towards the vernacular languages, especially Punjabi. Elite schools serve as instruments for the promotion of English. For this reason, Urdu and Punjabi languages are ignored by these schools. Consequently, the young generation is no more interested in speaking these languages. Članek natančno pregleda trenutno jezikovno politiko v Pakistanu in njen vpliv na lokalne jezike. Naveže se na oblikovanje in uvedbo tistega dela jezikovne politike, ki bi kar najbolj izkoreninil med-etnične konflikte. Obenem se dotakne obveznega 14-letnega učenja angleščine v šolah, ki se otepa splošnega ljudskega odpora, saj naj bi le povečeval razlike med priviligiranim slojem angleško-govorečih in preostalimi. Globally, madrassas have become a key focus of researchers and scholars to identify and locate their socio-educational role and responsibility. In the context of Pakistan, majority of the studies however are driven by the security perspective in which attempts have been made to investigate and thus establish their involvement in training non-state actors and religious extremists i.e. Taliban on the Pak-Afghan border. There is a general dearth of in-depth studies conducted inside madrassas in Pakistan and majority views are based on sensationalized media reports. Also rare are research studies that focus these 12,979 religious seminaries from the perspective of educating about 2 million Pakistani citizens. Guided by the theory of linguistic market of Pierre Bourdieu, this study aims at investigating the language attitudes with a view to explore avenues for effectively incorporating English in the curriculum that in turn will enable them to assimilate in the country's job market. Based on 42 in-depth interviews conducted in six madrassas in the war-torn province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the data reveals the virtual absence of English in the curriculum. It also reveals that Arabic reigns supreme as the fountain source of religious knowledge. English is viewed by many as language of opportunities and passport to success however. The study concludes that consistent and informed policy decisions by the government are needed to reform religious education. It further concludes that the policy of English for All has the potential to bridge the existing gulf between religious and secular education in the country.

In the study of language shift and maintenance, school has an important role to play. Language taught in schools represents both a tendency of the community and the policy of the government toward a certain language. School is a place where most of the times the new generation is purged of the local native languages. Pahari Dhundi-Kairali or Dhundi and often known and used as Pahari (Abbasi et al, 2010: 207) is an indigenous language of Murree and its adjoining areas in Pakistan. This language has also been silently declared an outcast in the governments as well as private schools. This paper looks at the outlook of the teachers regarding their/and their students' use of Urdu, English and Pahari languages in schools. We notice that Urdu is viewed as a prestigious language whereas Pahari is not considered a valuable language enough to be taught and used in the so-called disciplined environment of school.

حکیم الامت دانائے راز،مرد مومن، مفکر ملت علامہ اقبال رحمتہ اللہ علیہ نے اپنی قومی شاعری اور ایمان افروز پیغامات سے مسلمانان عالم کو بالعموم اور مسلمانان ہند کو بالخصوص خواب غفلت سے جگایا۔ آپ ۹ نومبر ۱۸۷۷ کو شہر سیالکوٹ میں پیدا ہوئے۔آپ کا آبائی وطن کشمیر تھا۔آپ کے والد بزرگوار شیخ نور محمد نہایت پرہیزگار اور متقی انسان تھے۔ابتدائی تعلیم ایک دینی مدرسہ میں پائی اور میٹرک پاس کرنے کے بعد مرے کالج سیالکوٹ میں داخلہ لیا یہیں سے ایف- اے۔ پاس کیا۔اس کے بعد بی-اے۔ اور ایم-اے۔ گورنمنٹ کالج لاہور سے امتیازی حیثیت سے پاس کیا اور پنجاب بھر میں اول آئے۔

میٹرک پاس کرنے کے بعد جب‏ اقبال سیالکوٹ کے مشن اسکول میں پہنچے تو یہاں پر ان کو مولوی میر حسن جیسے فاضل اور شفیق اُستاد مل گئے جنہوں نے ان کے جوہر قابل کو پہچان لیا۔اُنہوں نے اِن کی ذہنی تربیت فرمائی اور ان میں اِسلامی ذوق پیدا کیا۔

گورنمنٹ کالج لاہور میں آپ کو پروفیسرآرنلڈ جسیی شخصیت کے ساتھ کچھ وقت گزارنے کا موقع ملا جنہوں نے اقبال میں تجسُس اور تحقیق کی صِفات کو اجاگر کر دیا۔یہاں سے فارغ التحصیل ہوکر آپ اورینٹل کالج اور پھر گورنمنٹ کالج لاہور میں پروفیسر رہے۔اس کے بعد ۱۹۰۵ء میں آپ قانون کی اعلیٰ تعلیم کے لئے اِنگلستان چلے گئے اور کیمبرِج یونیورسٹی سے (‏bar at law) بارایٹ لاء کی سند حاصل کی۔ فلسفہ ایران میں ایک کتاب لکھ کر آپ نے جرمنی کی میونخ یونیورسٹی سے پی- ایچ- ڈی کی ڈگری حاصل کی اور ۱۹۰۸ء میں آپ وطن واپس آگئے۔

دوستو اور ساتھیو! علامہ اقبال کو اپنے شفیق استاد سر اور آرنلڈ سے بہت محبت تھی۔قیام انگلستان کے دوران آپ نے اِرادہ کر لیا تھا کہ شعر نہیں کہیں گے مگر آرنلڈ کے کہنے پر آپ نے اس ارادے کو ترک کردیا اور پھر سے شعر کہنے لگے۔ جب آپ کو آرنلڈ کے انتقال کی خبر ملی تو بے اختیار ‏آپ کی زبان سے نکلا ”آہ آج اقبال اپنی عظیم دولت اور مشفق استاد سے محروم ہوگیا“۔

علامہ صاحب انجمن حمایت اسلام لاہور کے صدر بھی منتخب ہوئے اور انجمن کے اداروں کو نہایت خوبی سے چلاتے رہے۔ بعد میں پنجاب لیجسلیٹو کونسل کے ممبر چنے گئے۔ پھر آپ پنجاب مسلم لیگ کے صدر منتخب کر لیے گئے۔ شاعری کی وجہ سے آپ کی شہرت ہندوستان کی سرحدوں کو عبور کرکے تمام دنیا میں پھیل گئی۔ قوم نے آپکو ترجمان حقیقت, شاعر مشرق اور حکیم الاُمت کے خطابات سے نوازا۔ حکومت برطانیہ نے آپ کو “سر” کا خطاب دیا۔ ریاست بھوپال کی طرف سے آپ کے لئے ۵۰۰ روپے ماہوار وظیفہ مقرر ہوا۔

عزیز ساتھیو! علامہ اقبال کی ساری کی ساری شاعری میں قوم کے لئے تڑپ موجود ہے۔ آپ کا ہر شعر ملت کے لیے اصلاح کا پیغام دیتا ہے۔کبھی وہ اسلاف کے کارنامے یاد دلا کر مسلمانوں کا لہو گرماتے ہیں کبھی افلاک پر کمند ڈالنے کو کہہ کر نوجوانوں کو دعوت عمل دیتے ہیں۔اویس قرنی رحمتہ اللہ علیہ کا قصہ چھیڑ کر حب رسول پاک صلی اللہ وسلم کی ترغیب دیتے ہیں۔آپ سچے عاشقان رسول ﷺ میں سے تھے۔ حضور ﷺ کے عشق میں ان کی آنکھیں ہمیشہ پر نم رہتی تھیں۔علامہ صاحب نے خودی پر بڑا زور دیا ہے ان کی مراد تکبر یا خود نمائی نہیں ہے بلکہ وہ قوم کی خودشناسی سکھانا چاہتے تھے اور اس سے یہ احساس دلانا مقصود تھا کہ تمھارے اندر قدرت نے جو جو ہر پنہاں رکھے ہیں ان کو کام میں لا کر اپنے آپ کو اس قابل بناؤ کہ خدا تعالیٰ کے منتخب بندوں میں شامل ہوجاؤ اور عملی طور پر اللہ تعالیٰ کے اس قدر مقرب بن جاؤ کہ اسکی رحمتیں تم پر برسنے کے لیے مجبور ہوجائیں۔ آپ فرماتے ہیں؀

علامہ اقبال کا تمام کلام اسلامی نظریات کے عین مطابق ہے۔آپکا سارا کلام احکام الہٰی اور اسوہِ حسنہٰ کی عکاسی کرتا ہے۔ اگر ہم ان کے صرف ایک ہی شعر پر عمل پیرا ہوجائیں تو کامیاب مسلمان بن سکتے ہیں اور دین و دنیا کی دولت ہمارے قدموں تلے آسکتی ہے۔ آپ نے ۲۱ اپریل ۱۹۳۸ کو لاہور میں رحلت فرمائی اور شاہی مسجد کی سیڑھیوں کے قریب دفن ہوئے۔ عام دنوں میں بھی لوگ ان کے مزار پر فاتحہ خوانی کے لئے جاتے ہیں مگر خاص مواقع مثلاً یوم اقبال پر بہت زیادہ لوگ حاضری کے لیے جاتے ہیں۔ علامہ اقبال صرف شاعر ہی نہیں تھے وہ ایک فلسفی بھی تھے اور ہمدرد رہنما بھی تھے۔ وہ قوم کی اصلاح کرکے عظیم قوم بنانا چاہتے تھے۔ اس مقصد کے لئے انہوں نے اپنی بات کو شاعری کے ذریعے پیش کیا۔ چنانچہ ان کی شاعری شاعری نہیں اس قوم کے لئے پیغام ہے۔
