Plot Summary
The Homework Machine is told from the perspectives of multiple characters in the format of tape recordings for a police report.
The four main characters are fifth-grade students who are grouped at the same classroom table because their last names start with D: Sam Dawkins (Snik), Kelsey Donnelly , Judy Douglas , and Brenton Damagatchi . Other than sharing the same last initial, the students have nothing in common. Snik is the cool class smart aleck; Kelsey is laid back and doesnât care about school; Judy is conscientious and in the gifted program; and Brenton is a loner and genius who designs software and studies psychology in his spare time. Snik pushes peopleâs buttons, and one day he pushes Brenton too farâimplying that Brenton spends all his free time doing homework. Brenton retorts that he doesnât spend any time doing homework and lets slip that he has invented a homework machine.
Snik calls Brenton a liar, so Brenton invites Snik, Judy, and Kelsey to his house to see for themselves. The group are stunned when Brentonâs machine prints out perfectly completed homework in Brentonâs handwriting. Brenton agrees to let Snik, Judy, and Kelsey join him after school to âdoâ their homework and even rewrites the software to accommodate their handwriting. The unlikely foursome spends every afternoon together, but they insist that they are not friends and that the only reason they tolerate each other is to use the homework machine, which they name Belch. Judy feels guilty about cheating but enjoys getting Aâs and uses the extra time to take up ballet. Kelseyâs vastly improved grades earn her privileges, such as a belly-button piercing, from her mother. As the weeks pass, the D Squad becomes addicted to using Belch and the boundaries between their various social identities begin to blur. Snik shows an interest in âboringâ chess, which Brenton plays, and Judy tries to be complimentary about Kelseyâs piercings (while finding them disgusting). Everything seems to be going well. However, things start to rapidly fall apart halfway through the year. Judy and Kelseyâs other friends resent their new associations and âunfriendâ them, and their teacher, Miss Rasmussen , suspects that they are cheating.
In addition, a strange man has been stalking the group ever since Brenton designed software to instigate a hugely successful social media-driven âred socks dayâ that spread across America. Miss Rasmussen springs a surprise test on the class to see whether the D Squad really knows their schoolwork. Sure enoughâKelsey and Snik fail, and Judy gets a C, confirming Miss Rasmussenâs suspicions. Before Miss Rasmussen can report them, Snikâs father, who is in the military, is killed in the Middle East. This tragic event diverts Miss Rasmussenâs attention from the cheating, which seems trivial in comparison. The bond between the D Squad strengthens as the stress of keeping Belch secret increases.
Together they decide to shut Belch down, only to discover that Belch has taken on a life of its own and will not power off. They throw Belch into the Grand Canyon and feel relief as they watch it disappear. However, when backpackers find computer pieces at the bottom of the canyon, the D Squad is called into the sheriffâs office where they confess to everything. The case is closed, but their unlikely friendships continue to strengthen and grow. The stalker turns out to be someone scouting Brenton to offer him a job as an influencer for his company. The companyâs clients want to market their products to kids. Brenton simply offers him an idea he would like to influence kids with: âDo your homeworkâ (146).

DOING HOMEWORK BECOMES A THING OF THE PAST The unlikely foursome made up of a geek, a class clown, a teacherâs pet, and a slacker â Brenton, Sam Snick, Judy and Kelsey, respectively, â are bound together by one very big secret: the homework machine. Because the machine, code named Belch, is doing their homework for them, they start spending a lot of time together, attracting a lot of attention. And attention is exactly what you donât want when you are keeping a secret. Before long, members of the D Squad, as they are called at school are getting strange Instant Messages from a shady guy named Milner; their teacher, Miss Rasmussen, is calling private meetings with each of them and giving them pop tests that they are failing; and someone has leaked the possibility of a homework machine to the school newspaper. Just when the D Squad thinks things canât get any more out of control, Belch becomes much more powerful than they ever imagined. Soon the kids are in a race against their own creation, and the loser could end up in jailâŠor worse!

Who Will Do My Homework for Me?
In the age of the gig economy, itâs no wonder you can rent an apartment the world over, hail a driver through your smartphone, or pay people to do your homework. There are dozens of quality writing services online, and most work just like Uber or Airbnb. They connect freelance academic writers looking for extra cash with overworked students in need of help.
Buying homework is just like calling an Uber. You explain what you need, and the system automatically finds the person best suited to meet your requirements. The person doing homework for you is usually someone with a degree in your field of study with a couple of years of writing experience and a good reputation among students. And the best thing is that you donât have to waste time screening writers; the writing company does the legwork for you. Even the payments work almost the same as with Uber, with the bulk of the sum going to the writer and a small commission awarded to the writing company that connected you two.
Will You Do My Homework for Me Cheap?
Do you want good paper or cheap paper?
There canât be a third option thatâs both good and cheap because we donât live in a perfect world. The truth is there are cheaper services, but they usually hire undergrads from third-world countries to do the job. So when they pay their writers $2 per page, they can afford to charge you $8 and still make a profit.
We go the other way around and start with the best writers money can buy - professionals with proven credentials and writing experience. Of course, they donât work for free, but we still manage to keep the prices manageable for most students. And if you want to save more - order early and look out for discount codes and special offers.
Why Should I Trust You to Do My Homework for Me Online?
When you think, âI need help with my homework,â online services arenât the first thing on your mind, especially with all the rumors about scams and plagiarism. And while there are some shady companies out there, you can entrust us with your assignments, as thousands of students have done already. To keep you safe, we guarantee
We respect your desire to keep the details of your order, your name and your college to yourself. And we will never disclose this information to third parties. You can be sure that no one from your class or school will learn about our deal unless you tell them. So be cool, and your little secret will remain safe with us.
Honest Refunds
We cannot promise to give your money back if you notice a couple of typos because our writers deserve to get paid for doing their jobs. What we do guarantee is to pay you back if you notice plagiarism or your paper is late. We are 100% sure that wonât happen, so you are perfectly safe every time you come to us asking, âWill you do homework for me?â
24/7/365 Support
You are not the only one to remember urgent assignments in the middle of the night or on the holiday weekend. Luckily for you, our writers are scattered across the time zones, along with our support agents, so thereâs no chance youâll be left alone with your school troubles. Reach out via live chat, email, or phone anytime, and weâll be there to help.
Affordable Prices
We found the balance between high-quality writing and student-friendly rates for a real win-win. Just make sure you place the order as early as possible to enjoy the lowest prices. And keep an eye out for special offers and promo codes. Get in touch with our support team to get a first-time or regular client offer.
Tailored Writing
We donât believe in standard solutions and make sure every piece is crafted with your specific requirements in mind. For best results, when you come to us asking, âDo my homework online for me,â please provide us with a sample of your writing and your professorâs rubric. This way, youâll get a paper that meets your needs to a T, and it will never raise suspicions in school.
Fast Delivery
Our experts can produce a solid paper in under six hours because they know the ins and outs of their respective fields and keep an eye out for the latest research trends. Unlike you, they donât have to waste days looking for credible sources or outlining every argument. Their writing experience ensures youâll get your assignment just in time.
Itâs Always a Good Idea to Pay People to Do Your Homework
Itâs all about your school and life goals.
If you got into college for a degree and better employment prospects, you need to get through the four years as fast as possible and make most of the networking opportunities the campus presents. In this case, when you ask us, âWrite my homework for me,â youâre making a wise and profitable investment in your future.
If youâre in school to learn and become the best in the field, it pays to outsource the assignments from all those required classes that have nothing to do with your major. Thereâs no sense in wasting your valuable time on homework that wonât do anything for your career prospects. Itâs smarter to let professionals handle it while you focus on what really matters to you.
If youâre already in college and still have no idea what you want to do with your life, now is the time to sample everything campus life has to offer. And getting out of homework is the first step towards finding your passion, especially if your assignments are nothing but a series of dull essays on the same stale topics.
The Benefits of Write My Homework For Me Services
Itâs not just about saving your time or getting out of boring schoolwork. When you buy a paper from us, we throw in a few free extras to make your experience even better.
Free Revisions
We guarantee your assignment will be perfect, and these arenât empty promises. Our writers are that good, but they are also not afraid of producing the second, the third, or the tenth version of your paper. They will work on revisions for free until you are completely satisfied with the results. The only concession we ask of you is to give our writers time to rework your assignments. With sufficient leeway, they can work wonders.
Free Outline
Weâll throw in an outline of the paper to help you make sense of the structure. It may seem like a nuisance for an essay, but outlines are invaluable for long-form assignments, like research and term papers. Use it as you see fit, either to browse core ideas of the paper at a glance or as a guide to follow when working on a future homework assignment.
Perfect Formatting
We are taught not to judge books by their covers, but we all do, nonetheless. And thatâs why every paper you get from us is formatted to perfection according to the current guidelines of your chosen style. You wonât find a single missing citation or reference, all because we stand on guard against plagiarism, even if itâs unintended or accidental.
Plagiarism-free
If plagiarism is your biggest concern when youâre thinking, âI want someone to write my homework,â you can forget about your worries once you place an order with us. You wonât find a single sentence copypasted into your paper, a borrowed idea or an uncredited piece of data. Even if your school uses Turnitin or similar software, your homework will never raise red flags, and youâll be 100% safe from any suspicions or accusations.

How can I get help with my homework?
Getting in touch with our support team is the easy way. Let them know what you need, and theyâll take you through the order process and keep you updated on its status. Or you can just set up an account and place an order like you would at Amazon. Once you pay for the assignment, weâll take care of the rest.
Is paying someone to do your homework illegal?
Not really. We donât know of any country that has laws against paying for getting your homework done. However, you should check with your schoolâs code and regulations. Some colleges and universities frown upon getting professional writing help.
How much does it cost for assignment help?
The prices range from around $10 per page to over $200 per page. High-school-level assignments on extended deadlines are the cheapest, while rush-order admission essays are the most expensive. Doctorate-level writing is also quite expensive. If youâre not sure you can afford to pay for homework help, use our calculator to get an instant quote.
Is assignment writing illegal?
No! Itâs like asking if doing homework is illegal. You donât see tutors, writing coaches or TAs getting arrested and put behind bars for helping students complete their assignments. For now, thereâs not a single country in the world that prohibits assignment writing.
Who can help me with my homework?
There are plenty of offers of homework help online, both among freelance writers and academic help agencies. All you have to do is decide who youâre willing to trust - an anonymous freelancer or a respectable company with years of experience and hundreds of reviews from happy customers. Besides, no writer can cover your every class, but essay writing companies employ hundreds of experts who can do your homework on any topic.
Can I hire someone to do my homework?
You sure can. And with us, you donât have to waste time choosing the perfect writer for your assignment. Weâll do the heavy lifting for you and find the right person to take care of your homework. As long as you provide us with enough details about your paper, we guarantee to match you with an expert.
What should I look for in a homework company?
Good reputation, realistic prices, transparent terms, and policies are all signs of a reliable writing service. So take your time when researching company background and genuine reviews, read the fine print in legalese. And donât fall for the cheapest rates you see because they will likely cost you extra in the end.
Can you do my homework for me on any topic?
We employ hundreds of experts in dozens of academic fields, so thereâs a 99.9% chance we can do your homework on any topic. But if you think that your major is too obscure or complex for us to handle, get in touch with our support team before placing an order. They will be able to look up the experts in your field and answer any questions about them.
Can you do my homework for me with zero plagiarism?
Thatâs the only way we do it! Plagiarism is a blight on academia that weâre set on eradicating one original paper at a time. So any piece you get from us will pass plagiarism checks like Turnitin with flying colors.
Can you deliver my homework within the deadline?
Sure, we promise your homework will be ready within the timeframe you set. Even if you only give our expert six hours to work on your assignment, you will receive it with time to spare.
Will you rework my order if it does not meet my requirements?
Sure, we offer free revisions for a reason. While our experts are good, they canât always hit a bullseye on the first try. Feel free to send your assignment for revision with comments on what you want to be changed, and youâll get an improved version within 24 hours. Please remember that your revision instructions should be in line with your initial requirements.

The Homework Machine
Starting with a stern statement from the Grand Canyon, Arizona Police Chief Rebecca Fish, meet four fifth graders in big trouble. There's long-haired, rebellious, cool guy Sam Dawkins; fun-loving, unacademic, pink-haired Kelsey Donnelly, African American grind Judy Douglas, and friendless genius Brenton Damagatchi. The whole thing starts because Sam is anti-homework, especially the daily fill in-the-blank worksheets his first-year teacher Miss Rasmussen hands out. Sam is skeptical when Brenton claims he has programmed his computer to search the web and do all his homework each day, but itâs true. Soon the four seatmates are spending every afternoon in Brentonâs bedroom, printing out their daily assignments on the computer they nickname Belch. It canât do any harm, right? The chronology and confession of their ill-fated escapade is related entirely through a series of transcripts, narrated by the four contrite kids, their parents, classmates, and Miss Rasmussen.
There are many interesting threads explored in this nimble story: keeping secrets, making friends, being popular, the morality of taking the easy way out, first crushes, the meaning of war, and even the loss of a parent. The setting of the Grand Canyon and sub-themes about playing chess, starting fads, and using a catapult will get kids looking up supporting information in books and on the Internet. Questions readers can think about as they read include: Which of the four main characters is most like or unlike you and why? Which one would or would not be your friend and why?

CRITICS HAVE SAID
- “A dramatic and thought-provoking story with a strong message about honesty and friendship.” – Elaine E. Knight, School Library Journal
- “Booktalkers will find this a natural, particularly for those hard-to-tempt readers whose preferred method of computer disposal involves a catapult and the Grand Canyon.” – Carolyn Phelan, Booklist
- “Tucked in between the laughs are excellent messages about tolerance, honesty, and the importance of what the students’ teacher calls the “homework machine [that] already exists. It’s called your brain.” – Child Magazine
- “Short chapters of alternating voices tell the story, which is funny in some places, but is not without intense and sometimes sad moments.” – Susie Wilde, Children

The character that I am most like is Judy. I am most like Judy becuase she gets A's acording to page 51 just like me. And she is a Afircan Amarican and I am cindove Eopean,African,Amarican.
I am somewhat like Judy because when it comes to caring, I care about everything like her on page 15.I am not gifted like Judy but I like to learn(page5).I like homework just like Judy because it helps us learn more (page21).
In the book The Homework Machine the character I'm most like is Kelsey. I'm most like Kelsey because she said she doesn't like homework.(found on page 16)
The chapter I am most like me is Sam Dawkins because the first day of school I was a little nerveous like Sam and I don't want anyone looking at me on page 8.
The character that is most like me is Sam Dawkins because we both were the new kids in school.(page8) Also we both need time to rest our brains after school by chilling out and watching tv.(page 17)
The character that is most like me is Judy because I like homework and school and Judy does too. The sentence that describes her is "Okay, I admit it. I like homework." Pg.21. I have almost straight A's and she does too. Pg.5. The difference is she is in fifth grade and she is African American. Pg. 6.
I am most like judy. I am like judy because she likes homework and so do I.(21)
In the book homework machine I am most like Kelsey beause I do not like homework and she does not like it either.(pg.16)
The character I would choose is Kelsey, because she has most of the same personality as me. She can be a little stubborn like me Pg4. But the one thing we do not have in common and that she does not care about homework like I do. Pg.16 That is why I chose her.
The character that I am most like is Judy because she said that she will never break the law (page 5). I am like judy because I will also never break the law.
I am most like sam beacouse he dosent care who dosent belive him but he speaks the truth. I don't care if you beleve me, thats the truth. Pg 3
judy is most like me because i am nice and honest sometimes. also because she looks like she cares what she says and what she does. all that is on page 28 paragraph 4.
In the book the homework machine I am like Judy. The reasons that I believe I am like Judy are she likes homework and school ( page 21), she is not going to be dishonst (page 5), she also does not sneak (page 15), and she trys hard (page 16). She also does not make fun of others (page 16). Those are the reasons I believe that I am like Judy.
I'm just like all of the characters except for Sam. I share a little of them all in me. Judy is smart like me and I almost make straight A's.(page 5). TORI said...Brenton is weird and this is true because I think what Brenton said on (page 11) that (If everybody was cool, everybody would be the same. Nobody would be cooler that everyone else. There would be nobody to make fun of. So I suppose I serve a purpose, in a weird way.) Kelsey is like me because homework suck an I have to do it (page 16).
