Unlike other sites I've tried, the depth and accuracy of their content is unmatched. It's clear they prioritize keeping their material current, which has been invaluable for my certification goals. It's my go-to resource now, lol.

Their commitment to providing the latest and most relevant content has significantly impacted my certification progress. And I did make it, by the way. Thanks, ET.

Before ExamTopics, I was pretty much shooting in the dark with my study materials - never quite sure if I was focusing on the right things. But from the moment I started using ExamTopics, it was clear I'd hit the jackpot. The clarity and relevance of the content have made my study time so much more productive. I've not only improved my scores but also saved a ton of time.

I've hopped from one study aid to another, always searching for that perfect fit. Then, I found ExamTopics, and wow, did it change the game for me! The resources are so spot-on and fresh, it's like having a personal tutor guiding me through my prep. My confidence has skyrocketed, and I'm actually looking forward to my certification exams now.

I've always dreaded exam prep, sifting through outdated materials and wondering if I was even close to being on the right track. Finding ExamTopics was a turning point for me. The materials are so directly aligned with what's on the exams, it's uncanny. Plus, their updates keep me ahead of the curve. For the first time, I feel in control and genuinely prepared.

Get ready to prepare like you’ve never prepared before

That’s why we know this exam prep will help you get that high-score on your journey to certification. Our study guides are the real thing. Our study guides are so accurate, we have to fight the droves of clone test prep sites that actually steal our material. Don’t worry though, we believe by offering our material free and upholding good values, ExamTopics will always have a strong community and a coveted place in the certification world.

Your journey to pass the PL-300

Perhaps this is your first step toward the certification, or perhaps you are coming back for another round. We hope that you feel this exam challenges you, teaches you, and prepares you to pass the PL-300. If this is your first study guide, take a moment to relax. This could be the first step to a new high-paying job and an AMAZING career. If you’ve been around the block a few times, consider taking a moment and answering some questions from newer techies. After all, it’s our great community that illuminates the material and helps build something great.

What should you know before studying the PL-300?

Every exam and certification has different requirements. If this is a serious venture, make sure to read the prerequisites before preceding. Nothing is worse than wasting months studying for an exam you can’t take or passing an exam that won’t help you get a certification! Our easy search tools are designed to help you find relevant information as well and search for a variety of different exams.

What is the PL-300 focused on?

The PL-300 or as it’s also known, the Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst , like all tests, there is a bit of freedom on Microsoft's part to exam an array of subjects. That means knowing the majority of PL-300 content is required because they test randomly on the many subjects available. Be aware too that experience requirements often exist because they’ve observed the average person and what is required. You can always push past that to succeed with the PL-300 but it may take some extra work.

Rome wasn’t built in a day

Remember that incredible things take time. And just like ancient monuments took years of effort, certification is not easy. It is not always quick either. But it is worth it! Our toolset allows you to engage with an incredible community of expert tech workers and add to the conversation at ExamTopics. If you have questions, don’t forget to leave a comment and reach out. It’s here that you’ll get personalized help unheard of on test prep sites, without the outrageous fees.

Always check the foundation

Some certifications have requirements going back to older exams, while others use two or more tests to help someone pass. If you find the PL-300 is over your head, that’s ok. It might make sense to see if a lower level exam will give you some clarity.

If offered, read the exam objectives

The exam objectives are different for every single exam and usually provided by the certification provider. These normally tell the test taker what subjects are relevant, what they need to know, and why the exam seeks to cover these topics. It’s important to find them out for your specific exam. This can be found on nearly every vendor website and greatly informs the way you’ll study! Don’t worry though, we have taken those objectives into account and seek to create a testing experience comparable to an actual exam.

Remember that certification is quite rewarding

It can be hard to keep your focus on studying but remember that the best jobs in the world are only a few tests away. Whether you enter Cyber Security or do entry level tech work, certification is a clear, learnable, and rewarding path to careers that pay a LOT of money. They offer better work-life balance and you’ll get in with some of the major leaders in the business world. So don’t give up, it is worth it, and all this work will pay off!

Using ExamTopics

Practicing for an exam like the PL-300 can be a full-time job. In fact some exams are actually paid for by work because they are so intensive. Certification is not simple and takes immense work. It takes time, practice, and the right focus. We here at ExamTopics understand that. We understand that because we have been in this industry for years and working in space full of less savory test prep sources. These terrible prep sources pushed our team to make a positive change in the Exam space. We got sick and tired of seeing potential exam candidates get price-gouged over CCNA braindumps. We couldn’t handle knowing that hard workers from across the world, seeking new skills and a better life, get tricked into paying absurd amounts for low-quality exam materials. Often material that was out of date or at best, available online through community sites without hurting the wallet. And it had to stop. You are ready to jump in!

That’s it, the next page will be full of practice questions. Challenging material. And best of all, a chance to hone your skills. It’s ok if you feel in over your head. We all did at some point, this next step is about pushing through that fear and getting ready to tackle something as challenging as the PL-300. If you get stuck, reach out. If you see others stuck, help them. And as always, like we love to say, work smarter NOT harder!

Amazing! I appreciate.
Microsoft recently updated the Study Resources for PL-300 Exam including Study Guide, Prep videos and Exam Sandbox.
For those who are not familiar with the current Microsoft Certification Exam format, the Exam Sandbox is demo exam website, where
you can explore the exam environment to experience an exam before you take it. In the sandbox, you can interact with different question types, such as build list, case studies, and others that you might encounter in the user interface when you take an exam. Additionally, it includes the introductory screens, instructions, and help topics related to the different types of questions that your exam might include.

I have been viewing you site for a few months while trying to make sure I am up-to-date for a return to the workforce. I decided that PL-300 is current, relevant and useful for my CV.
All your posts are excellent but this post is the best I have come across. In the vernacular of Gomer Pyle, "Thankya. Thankya. Thankya."
One question. If 2+2 = 5, how can 6+9=15? LOL

Power-bi-pl-300-study-guide, introduction.

The below is a study guide for the PL-300: Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst certification exam , the exam to certify the recipient as a Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate .

The study guide and outline are current as of February 2022.

What this Document Contains

This document provides a checklist recreation of the Microsoft's current Skills Measured outline found here . It is structured as follows:

Section Header

Section sub-header.

  • Sub-section

Headers and sub-headers always link to the official Microsoft Learn path documentation (where it exists), while sub-sections link mostly to other Microsoft Documentation. In instances where MS Documentation is lacking, outside resources are used or the MS Learn page specific to the topic is linked. Additional resources are then added at the bottom of each section linking out to MS Learn labs and third-party resources.

The document also contains references to further reading and resources , including tutorial videos, paid training (not ours), and the Dashboard in a Day project offered by Microsoft (free).

Lastly, the repo contains additional pages with more granular information on specific topics. These largely represent gaps the creator found in his own knowledge following one go-through of the MS Learn material. Use these as supplement, but do not treat them as comprehensive for their specific topic.

How to Use this Document

Clone the repo. Then, begin with the Microsoft Learn track found here . It is the go-to source for all material covered by the exam. Use the outline's checkboxes to track progress and the links to return to sections in the future.

To check off the sub-sections and headers, add an x between the brackets like so [x] . Example:

We then recommend working with the supplemental material to solidify content.

NOTICE: Following the Microsoft Learn path is not enough. There is too much material to memorize in one go and content will not sink in without further practice and review. You will have to practice, and you will be revisiting content.

Additional Notes & Caveats

Unfortunately, Microsoft's Learn path and its outline are not a 1:1. This can manifest in several ways.

First, a sub-section in the outline may not have its own explicit page in the MS Learn path and may exist across several pages of content. E.g. identify and connect to a data source does not exist as a specific page in the MS Learn section for Prepare the Data , but rather as several pages tied to various data sources.

Second, content for certain sub-sections in the outline may not be found within the indicated MS Learn section. We have tried to note this where possible.

Lastly, a section titled Develop a data model exists in the Outline, but has no corollary in the MS Learn track. In this case, informative content has been provided to the best of our ability. Several gaps surely remain, however, so please feel free to contribute.

Resources for Colleagues (AzTech International)

See this folder for additional documentation. Contained are further details about the exam, a thorough list of DAX functions with descriptions, and a list of M functions with descriptions and examples.

By concentrating on the most important areas of the exam, reviews the materials as fast and frequent as possible, you will not forget much content as you slowly move on with learning a new subject.

REMEMBER, you are study to ace an exam like cram for your final, so do it fast in weeks, not months. 4. Practice exam especially simulation test has the edge but choose yours wisely

If this is the first time you take on a Microsoft certification exam, you may find the questions are not only difficult but also kind of weird. So you better take a lot practice so you will be familiar with the test style, format and difficulty level.

Practice test especially computer-based simulation test engine is essential to prepare and pass the real certification exam. They will let you have an objective appraisal of your readiness for the exam thus to speed up your Measure-Cram-Test 3 step cycle discussed before. The practice will also boost you confidence once you are in the real test as well as reduce your exam anxiety.

But you have to choose your study resources wisely. The two most important criteria here are: reliability and to the point. The resources have to be accurate to give the correct answer as well as close to the real exam in styles, format and difficulty level enough to equip you well to actually pass the tests.

Question 24. You have a 200 GB data warehouse that has data consolidated from several applications and runs on SQL Server 2017 Enterprise Edition. You notice that with your reports, there is a default limitation of eight daily refreshes. Your manager asks you to ensure that the reports are never more outdated than 1 hour. Which of the following can help you in achieving the same?

  • Building an application for monitoring the changes in the database and pushing them out utilizing the real-time streaming API
  • Migrating the content to Power BI Premium
  • Adding an SSAS tabular layer on top and enabling the Live connections
  • Convert to DirectQuery to access the data warehouse.

Explanation : While connecting to the data source in Power BI Desktop, it is always possible to import a copy of data in the Power BI Desktop. DirectQuery is another approach that you can use to connect directly to the data source. In DirectQuery, no data is copied or imported into Power BI Desktop. As you build a visualization or interact with any visual, Power BI Desktop queries the underlying data source and therefore you always view the current data.

With other connecting modes, Underlying data changes might demand a refresh of data and for some reports, there may be a need for large data transfers to show the current data that might make reimporting data unfeasible. On the other hand, DirectQuery reports always use the current data and therefore you don’t need to deal with such problems. Also, DirectQuery has no limitation of the 1-GB dataset.

Option A is incorrect . Building an application for monitoring the changes in the database and pushing them out utilizing the real-time streaming API is not the right choice. Instead, you should Convert to DirectQuery to access the data warehouse.

Option B is incorrect. Migrating the content to Power BI Premium won’t help in achieving the goal.

Option C is incorrect . Adding an SSAS tabular layer on top and enabling the Live connections won’t help in achieving the goal.

Option D is correct . Convert to DirectQuery to access the data warehouse is the right approach to achieve the goal.

Reference: To know more about the DirectQuery approach, please refer to the link below:

Question 25. Suppose you have developed a query named consumers in Power BI Desktop to append the rows from 3 external tables with consumer data into a single table consumer.

Now you want to ensure that each row in the consumer table has a unique ID value. Which of the following is the best way to add a new fabricated ID column to the consumer table?

  • Changing the data model by extending the consumers table with an Index column
  • Changing the data model by extending consumer table with a Counter column
  • Modifying the consumers’ query by adding an Index column
  • Modifying the consumers’ query by adding a Counter column

Explanation: Query editor has an option Index Column to add an indexed column starting from 1,0 or any custom number. “Insert Index Column” is present in the “Add Column” tab that allows the creation of a new index column starting from 0, 1, or any custom number. Users can customize the starting value and row increment for the index.

Option A is incorrect. Modifying the consumers query by adding an Index column is the best way to add a new ID column to the consumer table.

Question 26. Why is it advised to avoid the NULL values in the numeric column?

  • DAX expression having SUM function on such data will provide incorrect results.
  • DAX expression having MAX function on such data will provide incorrect results.
  • DAX expression having an AVERAGE function on such data will provide incorrect results.
  • DAX Expressions can’t be applied if a numeric column has one or multiple NULL values.
  • All the above

Explanation: AVERAGE function calculates the average by considering the total and dividing that by the number of non-null values. As Null values won’t be considered, the returned average will be greater than the accurate average.

Option A is incorrect as the SUM function will ignore the null values. As Null values are just like zero, it will return the accurate result.

Option B is incorrect as the MAX expression will take the maximum non-null value and therefore return the correct result.

Option C is correct as the AVERAGE function calculates the average by considering the total and dividing that total by the number of non-null values. As Null values won’t be considered, the returned average will be greater than the accurate average.

Option D is incorrect as DAX expressions can be applied even if the column has null values and the expressions like SUM and MAX return the correct result even in the case of NULL values.

Option E is incorrect. Option C is the correct answer.

Question 29. There is a dataset containing the survey results for the percentage of Facebook usage by Gender, year, and age.  The age of the survey respondents lies between 10 and 70 years. You need to build a bar chart demonstrating the percentage of Facebook usage for equal age ranges of 15 years.

Here is the list of some actions that might be performed.

A. Set the group type to Bin

B.Set the Bin size to 4

C. Set the Bin Count to 15

D. Set the Bin count to 4

E. Set Group type to list

F. Set the Bin type to the number of Bins

G. Right-click on the column Age and Choose New Group

Choose the correct sequence of the actions (you may choose some or all actions from the given list) that you would perform.

Explanation: The correct sequence to be followed is:

  • Right Click on the column Age and choose New Group.
  • Set Group Type to Bin
  • Set Bin Type to number of bins
  • Set Bin Count to 4

So, the correct sequence is – g-a-f-d

First of all, you need to right-click on the column “Age” and choose the New Group.  It will open the Group dialog. Set the group Type to Bin. Group Type should be set to the bin when you do need to group numeric or data values.  Setting the Group Type to Bin will expose the Bin size and Bin type fields. In the Next step, Set the Bin type to the number of Bins and the Bin count to 4.  As there are 60 years between the age of 10 and 70 years, for getting the bins that cover 15 years, you need to set the Bin Count to 4. Making the Bin count to 4 will crate the age range of 15 years.

Setting the Group type to List is not the correct action. The list type is used for grouping the data categories, not the numeric data.

Setting the Bin Size to 4 is also not a correct option. As there are 60 years between the age of 10-70. Setting the Bin Size to 4 will create the age range of 4 years but we need the age range of 15 years.

Setting the Bin Count to 15 is also not the correct action. As there are 60 years between the age of 10 and 70 years, to get the bins that cover 15 years, you need to set the Bin Count to 4. If you set the Bin count to 15, it will create an age range of 4 but we need an age range of 15.

Explanation: For using the built-in date hierarchy, you need to create a new column by example starting with 2020-12-25 and set “DATE” as the data type of that column.

Option A is incorrect. Just creating a column by example starting with 2020-12-25 won’t allow using the built-in date hierarchy.

Option B is incorrect. Duplicating the column “Starting Time” and applying the TRIM function is not the right option.

Option C is correct. Creating a column by example starting with 2020-12-25 and setting “DATE” as the data type of new column will allow you to use the built-in date hierarchy.

Option D is incorrect . Creating a new Date table with the help of the CALENDER function is not the right option.

PL-300 exam

Going to take it up next week but, at the moment I am shitting bricks. I am having a bit of challenge in DAX and I am bad at memorising stuff.

I have the following question:

Are there questions where I will have to remember/ recall the syntax of a particular DAX function?

Do I have to memorise all the DAX functions which are in the Microsoft Learn module under the PL-300 course?

What are practical questions like in the exam? For example, do I have to build complex DAX calculations to arrive at an answer?
