Sometimes trying to get the layout of your presentation board just right can prove to be quite difficult and time consuming – and at times you may not really know where to start. 

However you’re in luck! Our architecture presentation board templates are great to get you started. They are designed to help speed up your process, create a strong design identity, and save you a huge amount of time.

All you need to do is insert your images and text into the designated placeholders. The templates can easily be adapted to suit your own style, and altered according to your own projects.

There are 14 templates in total , seven are in portrait and seven in landscape orientation. All of them come in A1 size , in Photoshop (.psd) and Indesign (.indd) formats. They can easily be sized down if needed. They include placeholders for your images and text.

Textured Backgrounds 

We have also included a selection of sixteen textures that you can use as backgrounds for your templates or other projects. You can use these to visually enhance your presentation boards. 

There are eight original textures and eight inverted versions that you get to experiment with. So get creative and make them your own. All versions come in (.png) and TIFF file (.tiff or .tif) file format.

Help Working with InDesign Templates

We’ve put together a collection of helpful tips to make editing our InDesign Templates super easy. If you’re a newbie to Adobe InDesign it’s worth checking these out before starting work on your design.

How to Open an InDesign Template

Step 1. Download the file.

Step 2. Our InDesign templates are packaged and saved as ZIP files. If you have a Windows computer Right Click > Extract All before opening the InDesign file.

Step 3. If you’re running InDesign CS6  open the INDD version of the file. If you’re working with InDesign CS4 , CS5 or CC  open the IDML version.

How to Work With Layers in Your Template

Our InDesign templates are organized into layers, which group similar elements together. The layers in your document can be controlled from the Layers panel  (Window > Layers) .

Pro tip: Try locking the YOUR IMAGES HERE layer to save time when editing text. This will prevent you from accidentally moving the graphics out of position.

How to Change the Colors

The color scheme of this template can be edited from the Swatches panel (Window > Color > Swatches) .

Pro tip: Editing a swatch will automatically update all instances of that color across your document.

How to Add Your Own Text

The text across this design can easily replaced with your own copy. Simple use the Type Tool (T) to select the text box you wish to edit. You can then add your own fonts and formatting. Read more about formatting text in InDesign.

How to Add Your Own Images

You’ll notice when you first open the template that all the image frames have a placeholder image. You can insert your own images by selecting the image frame and using File > Place to select a replacement image. Read our beginner’s guide to working with images in InDesign.

Pro tip: Do your images look blurry? Make sure your display is set to high-quality (View > Display Performance > High-Quality Display) . To see more accurately how your design will appear when printed go to View > Overprint Preview .

How to Change the Fonts in a Document

You can format individual items of text using the Type Tool (T) and Controls panel, which you’ll find running along the top of the InDesign workspace. The fonts in most templates are not set as InDesign styles. However, it’s easy to create a Character or Paragraph Style  using existing text formatting, and then edit this from the Styles panels (Window > Styles) . Read more about editing Styles in InDesign.

I found these two ideas and I really liked them so I thought about giving them some space in this post. These two last InDesign templates might be quite helpful if you are a freelance designer or work in an agency.

Brand identity is very important, it ensures that your message will be consistent and have the same look. This template is a nice start for building your brand identity manual, and it gives you a few examples of what the document should contain.

Where to find the best InDesign templates

Check the websites below for more InDesign templates:

• Adobe Stock : It’s the official store from Adobe . It's where I go for my templates! The store is already integrated with InDesign, there are many choices, and the templates are not just beautiful, but also technically well built. The early plan costs 29€/month for 10 assets, then 2.99€ for each asset.
• Envato Elements : It’s another place where you can find good ideas. Pricing start at $19/month (yearly subscription).
• Envato Market : Offers great templates. Each template generally costs between $10 and $20.
• StockLayouts : It offers a great number of templates. Even though there is a free section, I couldn’t find anything free. Templates start at $69.
• Creative Market : At the time I am writing this post, it offers 1,150 templates. There are some nice projects that are worth checking, but make sure to check the comments because unfortunately some templates are not well built. Prices vary from $10 to $30.
• Inkd :  Offers some interesting templates but they are generally more expensive than the places mentioned above.
• Design Aglow: Presents a very nice collection for photographers. They have InDesign templates for marketing, branding, selling needs, contracts, etc. It’s worth having a look, especially because every template includes professionally written verbiage and no dummy text.
• Dribbble : Also on Dribbble you can find amazing InDesign templates – some will be paid, but other will be free – and the quality is good!
• BIT: It’s free, but you’ll have to dig up a lot before finding something worth downloading.
• Behance : Well, I know I shouldn’t mention it here because you cannot find any InDesign template here, not for free, not for sale. But, Behance is a great place for finding inspiration and learning more so if you were looking for ideas, that is a place where you should go.

Create your own InDesign template

A template is a document that when opened, it opens as a new untitled document. If you often reuse the same layout you should consider starting from a template.

Create your document directly in InDesign and then save it as “InDesign CC template” (InDesign will create an .indt file).

Make sure your template is created using the best practices because some other designers in the future might need to use your InDesign template!

Two things I’d suggest you learn better before creating your own templates are master pages and how InDesign paragraph styles work .

Does InDesign have built in templates?

InDesign is integrated with Adobe Stock which is the official store from Adobe. In there you can find both free and paid templates for InDesign.

Unfortunately, there is no free version of InDesign. InDesign can be purchased as part of the Creative Cloud membership or individually.
