In nature, biodiversity means a place has many different species of plants and animals. If a company wants to include more different products or markets, it diversifies. For instance, Sony started off as a manufacturer of home electronics, but has diversified into several different areas, including gaming and movies. Diversification can make a company more stable. There’s a common saying: Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Coir is formed from the fibre of the coconut husk. The husk is the outer coat that protects the shell, which contains the meat and milk of the fruit. A thick cushion of fibre exists between the outside of the case and the shell. This fibre cushion is used in the production of coir.

Inside the coconut shell is the white meat or kernel, which can be up to a centimetre thick. This is good enough to eat. The kernel itself is a white ball packed with a colourless salty sweet liquid that produces a delightful cool drink.

Coconut oil can be extracted from the kernel. It must be dried and pressed. The dried kernel is known as ‘copra,’ and it is fed into an oil mill for pressing. When the oil is extracted, there will be slabs of solid substance left over. This is referred to as oil cake. It makes excellent livestock fodder.

Marcella Hazan’s Five-Star, 12,000-Review Tomato Sauce

Its luscious simplicity is the draw: All you need are canned tomatoes, an onion cut in half, butter, salt and time.

Kim Severson

By Kim Severson

Tomato sauce is shown simmering in a stainless steel pot with onion halves and a wooden spoon.

Hi. Sam’s summering somewhere on an island in the Atlantic. I’m summering here at my desk, where the food news never stops.

About five years before the Italian cook Marcella Hazan died, I had the good fortune to spend an afternoon interviewing her at her condo in the Florida Keys. She was in her mid-80s, still enjoying her Marlboro Lights and a shot of Gentleman Jack whiskey in the afternoons.

And she was still complaining about American supermarkets. Her critique of her local Publix remains one of the highlights of my food reporting career. Which was worse — that a food market offered inflatable alligator beach toys or that it sold giant globe artichokes?

“I never saw artichokes in my life like this,” she told me. “It’s better because it’s bigger? What am I supposed to do with this?”

Still, we turned them and some other food from the grocery store into a simple baked pasta dish with some Gulf shrimp.

Even if you don’t know who Marcella Hazan is, you probably know her most famous recipe. It’s a dead-simple sauce of tomatoes, onions and butter that she first published in “The Classic Italian Cook Book” in 1973. She titled it Tomato Sauce III.

Today’s nyt ‘connections’ hints and answers for monday, august 19.

Find the links between the words to win today's game of Connections.

Looking for Sunday’s Connections hints and answers instead? You can find them here:

Hey, folks! I hope you had a smashing weekend and that you’re all set for what I’m sure is going to be an excellent week.

Today’s NYT Connections hints and answers are coming right up.

How To Play Connections

Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on the NYT website or Games app.

You’re presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part.

There’s only one solution for each puzzle, and you’ll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them.

Best High-Yield Savings Accounts Of 2024

Best 5% interest savings accounts of 2024.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay.

Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you’re incorrect, you’ll lose a life. If you’re close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you’re one word away from getting it right, but you’ll still need to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with the help of some hints, and, if you’re really struggling, today’s Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.

What Are Today’s Connections Hints?

Scroll slowly! Just after the hints for each of today’s Connections groups, I’ll reveal what the groups are without immediately telling you which words go into them.

Today’s 16 words are...

And the hints for today’s groups are:

  • Yellow group — types of tunes
  • Green group — for many people, these are essential aspects of a certain dish
  • Blue group — you hold these for seconds at a time (or longer if you’re fit enough)
  • Purple group — CARSICK, LUCARNE and BRAVERY would fit in here

What Are Today’s Connections Groups?

Need some extra help?

Be warned: we’re starting to get into spoiler territory.

Today’s groups are...

  • Yellow group — music genres
  • Green group — bratwurst go-withs
  • Blue group — yoga poses
  • Purple group — starting with Pixar movies

What Are Today’s Connections Answers?

Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today’s Connections answers.

This is your final warning!

Today’s Connections answers are...

  • Yellow group — music genres (BLUES, COUNTRY, FOLK, ROCK)
  • Green group — bratwurst go-withs (BRAT, BUN, MUSTARD, SAUERKRAUT)
  • Blue group — yoga poses (CHAIR, MOUNTAIN, TREE, WARRIOR)
  • Purple group — starting with Pixar movies (COCONUT, SOULMATE, UPDO, WALLET)

I thought I would get back to winning ways after my 26-win streak came crashing to a halt yesterday, but sadly not.

I got the greens and the yellows quickly enough. But I didn't have a clue about the blues or the purple group. I don't know enough about yoga to have figured out the blue group. And I felt that the purple group was just a little too tricky to deduce, as much as I love many Pixar movies ( Wall-E is an all-time fave of mines).

That’s all there is to it for today’s Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog for hints and the solution for Tuesday’s game if you need them.

P.S. If you somehow haven't seen Wall-E , I recommend you remedy that as soon as possible:

the coconut tree essay

Vice President Kamala Harris ’ comment from over a year ago, “You think you just fell out of a coconut tree? ” is gaining renewed attention online following President Joe Biden's endorsement of Harris as the Democratic nominee.

But why? Here's some background.

On May 10, 2023, Harris spoke at the White House about advancing opportunities for Hispanic individuals and investing in the broader community. “Because none of us just live in a silo. Everything is in context,” she said during her speech.

Coconut tree Kamala Harris meme explained

Recalling a memory with a chuckle, Harris, 59, shared, “My mother used to — she would give us a hard time sometimes, and she would say to us, 'I don’t know what’s wrong with you young people. You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?'"

She then added, “You exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before you.”

After Biden announced on Sunday that he would not be seeking re-election and was endorsing Harris for the 2024 presidential race, her supporters began posting emojis of coconuts and trees on social media in celebration.

Brian Schatz, senator from Hawaii hopped on to the trend posting a photo of himself climbing a coconut tree and captioned it, "Madam Vice President, we are ready to help."

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, who is rumored to be a potential running mate for vice president, responded to a question about his political future by writing, "You think I just fell out of a coconut tree?"

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis didn't hold back and shared a post on X on July 21,  that included the coconut and palm tree emoji, along with an American flag icon.

“Georgian restaurant, basic but good” Review of Gruzinka

Photo of Gruzinka

I visited this restaurant together with a business relation. Food was ok, salad was a surprise, see my pictures. I tried the local beer which was on tap, pretty light but tasty. We also ordered the flat bread with cheese, which was a good choice. My Chicken shashlik was not outstanding, but acceptable.
