Resident Evil 4 DLC: Separate Ways, Assignment Ada & more

Ada Wong in RE4 remake

The original Resident Evil 4 featured two adventures called Separate Ways and Assignment Ada where you could play as Ada Wong, but will the Resident Evil 4 remake feature either as DLC?

Ada Wong is back in the Resident Evil 4 remake and her role is largely the same, although her ending is expanded. In the original game, Ada had her own small mission called Assignment Ada that unlocked after the main campaign was completed. This was just a short level in which Ada needed to make it from one side of RE4’s Island fort to another, battling enemies and bosses along the way.

When RE4 was re-released on PS2, Xbox, and PC, a second mission for Ada was added to the game , one that expanded her role and explained what Ada was doing while Leon was saving Ashley. This was called Separate Ways and was considerably longer and more detailed than Assignment Ada. It was also canon and emulated Leon’s campaign in many ways.

The question is, will Assignment Ada and Separate Ways return in the Resident Evil 4 remake as DLC?

Ada Wong inSeparate Ways

Does RE4 Separate Ways have a release date?

While Ada’s campaign wasn’t included in the base game of Resident Evil 4, Separate Ways will be released on September 21, 2023 , on all platforms. So far, there’s been no word on if Separate ways will be a free or paid DLC.

The original Separate Ways wasn’t included in the original Resident Evil 4 when it was first released on the GameCube, as the mission was only added to the game in later versions. Therefore, it makes sense for the mission to be released as DLC.

As in the original RE4, the church tower in the village collapses at a crucial point in the game – seemingly for no reason. Those who played Separate Ways will remember that it was Ada who caused this to aid Leon from afar, and therefore, Ada is still following her Separate Ways story in the RE4 remake, which gave some fans a clue that the mode was coming.

While Separate Ways has been confirmed by Capcom to be Resident Evil 4 DLC. There’s been nothing confirmed about Assignment Ada, however, Separate Ways replaces that mission in many ways, so it makes sense for only that larger content to be included as RE4 DLC.

Resident Evil 4 Remake: 6 Best Challenges to Complete, Ranked

October 30 will be a sad day for final fantasy fans, one baldur's gate 3 character could be getting a massive change with patch 7, key takeaways.

  • Resident Evil 4 Remake exceeded expectations and was nominated for Game of the Year, offering a reimagined and exceptional survival-horror experience.
  • Separate Ways DLC allows players to experience Ada Wong's side of the story in a unique campaign, but the original GameCube title featured another mode called Assignment: Ada.
  • Assignment: Ada should be included in Resident Evil 4 Remake as it could offer a combination of post-game challenges and unlockables that keep players engaged.

Resident Evil 4 Remake was released earlier this year, offering fans a complete reimagining of the 2005 classic and its Mercenaries mode. Despite the original being considered one of the best survival-horror titles of all time, the remake managed to exceed expectations, delivering an experience that saw Resident Evil 4 Remake nominated for Game of the Year at the Game Awards . In September, Separate Ways was released for RE4 Remake , again surpassing expectations. While the combination of RE4 's story mode, Mercenaries, and Separate Ways DLC delivers an exceptional survival-horror package, veteran fans know that one piece of the puzzle is still missing, as another popular side mode was featured in the 2005 original.

Resident Evil 4 Remake 's main campaign follows Leon Kennedy as he seeks to rescue the President's Daughter, Ashley, and escape. On his adventure, Leon crosses paths with Resident Evil 2 's Ada Wong, who aids him to satisfy her own secret motives. The Separate Ways DLC explores these motives in greater detail, allowing fans to experience her side of the story in a unique campaign. However, another mode featuring the character was featured in the original GameCube title.

Resident Evil 4’s Assignment: Ada Explained

In the original Resident Evil 4 , completing the main campaign unlocked a variety of post-game features. Chief among these was a non-canon minigame titled Assignment: Ada, which featured the mysterious heroine on a mission of her own. Players were tasked with navigating Ada from RE4 ’s Wharf A to the Communications Tower while collecting multiple Plaga samples for Albert Wesker along the way. Ada encounters a variety of enemies as she obtains the samples, with the most notable being a final boss encounter with Jack Krauser. Defeating Krauser results in Ada obtaining the final sample and making her escape.

While Assignment: Ada is a non-canon adventure , its events and final cutscene offered the best allusion to the future of the series, as Wesker reveals that significant changes are coming to the world at large. However, later ports of Resident Evil 4 added a second mission for Ada, Separate Ways, which provided a canonical explanation for Ada’s action throughout the main story and made concrete links to Wesker’s involvement in securing a sample of the Plagas.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is Incomplete Without Assignment: Ada

Resident Evil' s modern remakes offer exceptional survival-horror experiences on the first playthrough, but their post-game challenges and unlockables are what keep players engaged once the credits roll. The Resident Evil franchise is a mainstay in the speed-running community , with fans battling to complete each entry's campaign and challenge modes as efficiently as possible.

Assignment: Ada fits perfectly into this puzzle, as it offers one of the franchise’s best combinations of both elements. The mode effectively tasks players with completing a heist, before escaping the island, and with the modern systems features in Resident Evil 4 Remake , the mode can be expanded to include a myriad of additional objectives and difficulty settings.

It remains to be seen whether Assignment: Ada will ever come to RE4 Remake. Still, Resident Evil 4 Remake is due to receive at least one more major update, a PSVR2 mode , and Capcom could use the update to add additional modes to the title. While it may not be the most popular mode, Assignment: Ada is an important part of the original Resident Evil 4 and until the mode arrives in RE4 Remake a piece of the puzzle will always be missing.

How To Destroy The Catapults :

In the Castle Gate area, if you alert the Ganados, you’ll also alert catapults that will rain explosive fireballs down onto Ada. To get rid of them, go to the northwest corner of the map where there’s a small square structure with a door. Use this path to reach a wooden scaffold and a ladder leading down. Below, you’ll find the SR M1903 Rifle and a Scope.

Next to the rifle, you’ll also find a turret tower with a huge cannon. Break the yellow-marked hanging counterweight to raise the cannon up. Then you can exit and zipline straight up to mount the cannon. Fire at the catapults in the distance — they’re marked with white dot icons. Destroy all three to make progressing out of the castle much, much easier.

You can continue to use the cannon to blast all the incoming cultists and save ammo. They’re too slow to reach you! Later, after zipping to the castle gate, you’ll have to deal with more crossbow cultists and catapults. Immediately run to the ladder to your left and start using it to blast them. Don’t waste your ammo!

How To Open The Cliffs Door :

In the Cliffs area, you’ll reach a door in the cliff face. To open it, you’ll need to interact with the machine to the left of the door. There are three symbols Ada must input. The symbols are located around the cliffs map. Find the symbols below or select the symbols highlighted in the screenshots above.

  • Symbol #1 : Painted yellow on the wall to the right of the locked door.
  • Symbol #2 : Turn around and face the grapple point to the higher catwalk. The yellow symbol is painted on the cliffs above it.
  • Symbol #3 : The last symbol is only visible from above, on the upper catwalk. Grapple to it then walk to the dead end — look directly down and line up the camera to view the yellow symbol painted onto multiple surfaces in the distance.

Searching For Clues In The Village Chief’s Manor :

At the start of Chapter 3, Ada is searching for a clue to find where Luis might be located. To find a clue, go downstairs to the first floor and look for a loose framed picture near the back hallway of the manor. Interact to remove the frame and reveal the [ Hidden Key ].

Go back upstairs to the bedroom and use the [ Hidden Key ] on the locked drawer. Read the note to discover that Luis is being held in the Factory Basement to the south.

Exiting The Fortified Tower : Leaving the Fortified Tower and making your way to the Bindery, you’ll need to solve a simple Lithograph Relief Puzzle. You’ll need to find the missing Lithographs to unlock the exit door. Place both stones, then we need to solve the puzzle.

  • Lithograph Stone A : Entering the castle interior hallways where the first cultists are located, head north to the Merchant room. There’s a Lithograph across from him.
  • Lithograph Stone B : Right next to the puzzle door. Find it opposite the locked door with the Lithograph slots.

Solution : To solve the puzzle, we’ll need to interact with the stones. One is at each of the four cardinal directions. Match the pictures above and input the lithographs in this configuration. The image doesn’t matter. Only the color and the shape.

  • North Slot : Red Square
  • West Slot : Red Hexagon
  • East Slot : Blue Square
  • South Slot : Blue Hexagon

Hit the shields in this order and a drawer will open with the Red Ink. Taking it will trigger the exit cutscene so don’t collect until you’ve explored the area first.

Hall of Tribulation Puzzle :

In this hall, you’ll encounter a series of gates and gongs with matching symbols. Interact with the first rope to ring the gong and activate the first gate. The puzzle begins at the second gate. The goal is to collect the Crimson Lanter and unlock the door that blocks Ada’s path forward.

  • Second Gate : Use the snake symbol gong on the left, then shoot the upper snake symbol gong on the right side of the hallway.
  • Third Gate : Shoot the three eagle gongs. One is to the left of the gate; another is to the right. The last gong is behind the gate on the left side.

The Crimson Lantern is at the end of the path. Collect it when you’re ready. Collecting it will summon a giant drill that chases you down the hall. To escape, you’ll need to repeat the previous puzzle. Let’s go.

  • Fourth Gate : Same as the third gate, except we’re on the opposite side. Shoot the eagle gong to your right, then the two on opposite walls behind the gate.
  • Fifth Gate : Three fish. Similar to the previous gate. Two are on opposite walls on your side of the gate, with one final fish gong behind the gate on the left side.
  • Last Gate : Two snakes. Easy. They’re on the left and right side of the hallway.

Open the last gate and grapple through the hole to escape this death trap.

Collection Room Lock :

To open the locked case in the Collection Room, you’ll need to input a code based on different types of bug specimens. By reading the note to the left of the lock, Ada will use her Augmented Reality device to scan for footsteps. We need to follow the footsteps from the entrance and see what three specimens the Collection Keeper checks. These three specimens are the key to the lock.

  • Solution : Beetle | Cow Skull | Lizard

Review: Separate Ways finally makes the RE4 remake feel complete

  • Author: Dave Aubrey

The original Separate Ways — an Ada-focused side story for Resident Evil 4 — felt like an extra. It was fun, but it was added into Resident Evil 4 while being ported to the PS2 – it was never intended to be essential to the story, and the timeline didn’t align perfectly with what Leon did in the game. It didn’t need to, mind, it was just more fun to have once you’d finished with the main story, limy like The Mercenaries mode was. The new Separate Ways DLC for RE4 remake is entirely different.

Ada’s story now makes perfect sense, aligns with everything we see Leon do without any holes, and most importantly, Ada Wong is really cool. As soon as you see a melee prompt pop up when you’re a distance away from an enemy, tap that button, and see Ada grapple gun her way into a finishing blow, you know everything you need. She kicks ass, and unlike the original side-story, Separate Ways now feels like an essential part of RE4 remake’s narrative.

Though what’s arguably far more exciting than how it completes the story is how it completes the remake itself. Fans were upset that Lord Saddler’s creature, “It”, didn’t make the cut, and the Village’s ski lift shootout was similarly absent – but Separate Ways brings them back, and recontextualizes them.

resident evil 4 separate ways ada wong glhf (5)

Why didn’t Leon fight “It”? Ada already took ‘em out. Where was the second El Gigante fight following the cabin siege? Actually, Ada dealt with that, too. The ski lift shootout? Well, the original ski lift is broken down, but there is a brand new one that mimics the original for Ada to take on. All of the small omissions that were only really remembered by die-hard fans weren’t scrapped after all — they were given to Ada in order to streamline Leon’s story.

Every returning feature or section puts a big smile on my face, and even when Ada backtracks through areas that Leon has already cleared out, she’ll find new foes and new paths thanks to her grapple gun, so it rarely feels like a retread. Ada does find herself running through familiar parts of the Castle’s Battlements and the like, but then you’ll return to the Laboratory filled with Regeneradors and it just happens to be the tensest encounter with them in the entire game. It leans into the horror side of the series without stripping away all of your weapons and tools, like past entries have resorted to.

resident evil 4 separate ways ada wong glhf (1)

Even the laser hallway returns – yes, the dumb, ridiculous, QTE-dense laser hallway – with fewer QTEs, but even more spectacle and bombast, while being tailed by a brand-new, fearsome bioweapon. It still has the pacing and texture of RE4 remake’s main game, but condensed. It’s also surprisingly meaty, and is longer than Resident Evil 3 remake, which is quite the achievement for a DLC packed with great moments and setpieces.

But to bring the mood down just for a moment, I sadly have to say that Ada’s voice actor left something to be desired. Fans complained about her performance in the main game – to the point of actively harassing the voice actor, which is absurd – but I didn’t feel we’d heard enough of her to make a judgment. Now that Ada’s got her own campaign and spotlight, I have to say that she feels underwhelming, with some of her dialogue just not bouncing off the other characters in a way that feels natural. It’s a minor frustration, but does impact cutscenes.

resident evil 4 separate ways ada wong glhf (2)

Resident Evil 4 remake was brilliant as it was, but I think we were all left wondering where Separate Ways was, especially after Leon namedrops it in his last conversation with Ada. Now that it’s here, it’s genuinely so much better than I could’ve expected. All of the blankspace left in RE4 remake’s story have been filled in more neatly than the original ever was, and yes, it does end by teasing where the series could go next.

Separate Ways is the DLC we didn’t know RE4 remake needed, and it’s up there with the best DLC content we’ve ever had for a Resident Evil game. It’s a bit of a shame that this side-story of the original game was carved out to be paid DLC, but when the package is this good, it’s hard to moan. If you enjoyed Resident Evil 4 remake, then Separate Ways is an absolute essential.

RE4 Separate Ways technical performance

It’s identical to the main game on PS5 – as you would expect. If you want a truly smooth 60fps experience, make sure to turn off Ray Tracing and the Hair Strands effects, but you can pick one of those and still hit 60fps most of the time, or at least with imperceptible drops on a VRR display.

Assignment Ada , also known as Ada the Spy in some regions, is a short mission that is unlocked after completing the game once. In this game, Ada Wong must infiltrate the Island Base and recover 5 Plaga Samples. The samples must fit into her small Attache Case along with her Punisher, TMP, and Semi-Auto Rifle, so item management is a must. The game must be beaten in one complete run, as there is no saving. In all versions prior to the Wii version, Ada has no Knife, so the difficulty is even greater. She must fire bullets to break crates and barrels to obtain items so, do not worry about killing every single enemy and proceed to the next area as soon as possible.

  • 1 Storming the Beach
  • 2 Inside the Base
  • 3 The Lone Guard
  • 4 Chicago Typewriter

Storming the Beach [ edit | edit source ]

When infiltrating the beach area, be careful about shooting enemies of edges into the water, or else you may run short on ammo. After all the enemies are dead, collect the items around the area. Climb the ladder at the rear entrance and crawl through the vent duct to get inside the Base.

Inside the Base [ edit | edit source ]

Once inside check your in-game map. The locations of the Plaga Samples are marked with treasure icons on the map. Find them and kill the enemies guarding them. In the Research Lab, collect the Plaga Sample and then defend yourself from the enemies that lock-down the room. To get out, operate the security console to unlock the door.

The Lone Guard [ edit | edit source ]

At the Communications Tower you will have to defeat Krauser to obtain the final Plaga Sample. Use your remaining Hand Grenades and the TMP to defeat him. Once he's taken care of ride the lift to the top of the Tower and call a Chopper to pick up Ada.

Chicago Typewriter [ edit | edit source ]

Completing the mission allows you to purchase the Chicago Typewriter , a Tommy Gun with unlimited ammo, in a completed file of the main game (GameCube) or Separate Ways (all other versions). The gun does come with a high price at 1 million Pesetas to be exact in the main game and 300,000 in Separate Ways.

"Essentially A Brand New Diablo Game": The Best New Features Confirmed For Diablo 4 2.0

Most underrated bg3 companion is getting more content in patch 7, but it won’t be enough, massive ark: survival ascended feature update could make asa worth checking out.

The remake of Resident Evil 4 has been released to an overall positive reception, and the game has also set itself up well for future DLC. As a modernized take on one of the Resident Evil franchise's most beloved classic entries, the Resident Evil 4 remake follows many of the same beats as the original game with a few surprising additions, following in the same vein as previous remakes for Resident Evil 2 and 3 .While Resident Evil 4 's remake is mostly faithful to the original, there are a few notable missing aspects from the 2005 classic. Some set pieces, sections, or boss fights have been shifted around or outright removed in the remake, although usually replaced by new or updated content, and as a whole, the game takes on a somewhat more serious tone (although it still retains much of the original's cheesy dialogue). Perhaps more notably, however, the remake's launch was missing some of the original's extra modes, like Resident Evil 4 's popular The Mercenaries mode, although this is coming to the game as free DLC shortly. Related: Resident Evil 4 Remake Mercenaries DLC - Release Date, Platforms, & Price

Resident Evil 4 Remake DLC Is (Probably) On The Way

Resident Evil 4 Remake's Leon holds a shotgun while he protects Ashley, which is back-to-back with him.

Luckily, however, Resident Evil 4 's remake has positioned itself well for story-related DLC campaigns, in addition to the already-announced free Mercenaries DLC; with Separate Ways DLC being all but confirmed by data-mined files, as reported by Twitter user, @ResiEvilCentral . Other possible DLCs include Operation Javier , a story involving Leon and Krauser originally set in 2009's Wii spinoff Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles , and Assignment: Ada , a short mode taking place on the island section of Resident Evil 4 's main story. Of the three possible additions, however, Separate Ways has the most evidence supporting its eventual addition to the game.

Separate Ways Could Be A Second Story Campaign For RE4 Remake

The title screen for Resident Evil 4's Separate Ways bonus mode, featuring Ada Wong sitting against a wall and holding up a pistol.

Featuring Ada Wong as a playable character, the original Separate Ways is a bonus campaign following a storyline that proceeds parallel to the main story, filling in several gaps and showing Ada's role in assisting Leon at several points in the game. With files for Another Order (the original name for the campaign for Japanese releases) having been data mined from the Resident Evil 4 remake, it seems likely that the campaign is currently being developed as DLC, to be released at a later date. In a similar vein to Resident Evil Village 's Shadows of Rose DLC, Separate Ways is likely to offer significantly modified gameplay from the main story.

While the Separate Ways campaign still falls within the basic framework of the original Resident Evil 4 's gameplay, it presents some key changes. Compared to Leon in the main story, Ada is slightly faster, has different melee attacks, and a hookshot giving her access to a few different areas. However, reflecting the more contained nature of the campaign, its weapon selection is much more condensed, with the only available guns being a Blacktail pistol and a shotgun. Moreover, although the merchant is present in Separate Ways , the original bonus campaign opts to leave weapon upgrading out, meaning that Ada's arsenal stays at the same strength throughout.

With only five chapters, a limited selection of weapons, and the absence of the weapon upgrading system, a Separate Ways DLC for the Resident Evil 4 remake could do with some significant changes - especially if, unlike the original, it will come at additional cost. As a presumably paid DLC instead of a free bonus mode, Separate Ways would be due for some big expansions to its content, fleshing it out into a true parallel campaign to the Resident Evil 4 remake's main story. It remains to be seen what an updated Separate Ways could entail, but longer/more missions, additional weapons, and weapon upgrades could be a good start.

Operation Javier and Assignment: Ada DLCs Aren't Likely To Release

Krauser stabbing his knife down at Leon, who is holding it off, in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Compared to Separate Ways , however, DLC associated with Operation Javier or Assignment: Ada remains somewhat less likely. With no data mined files to support their eventual release, any evidence supporting them would have to come from the RE4 's remake itself. While vague allusions to Operation Javier have been integrated into the story of the remake, they seem mostly to exist to provide more backstory for Krauser, giving him character motivation he lacked in the original game, and strengthening his connection to Leon. While it can't be written off entirely, much of Operation Javier' s presence in the main game seems to serve as a way to better integrate Krauser as a third-act villain.

Moreover, the game that Operation Javier originates from, Darkside Chronicles, might present some challenges of its own in creating a potential Operation Javier DLC. Notably, Darkside Chronicles is a co-op rail shooter for the Wii, meaning that very little of its gameplay would be directly translatable to the gameplay of Resident Evil 4 Remake . With Leon and Krauser's relationship being both more fleshed-out and also somewhat changed in the remake, there isn't much need to further expand on it with an Operation Javier DLC - although it could, in theory, operate similarly to the remake's sections where Leon partners with Luis.

Finally, with the very likely release of Separate Ways , an Assignment: Ada DLC may just be redundant, being as it is both non-canon and even smaller in scope than the original RE4 's other bonus modes. If anything, it's more likely that any of Assignment: Ada' s more compelling ideas will simply be folded into a Separate Ways DLC, with the mode's hunt for plagas samples being a potential carryover. As a short bonus mode, offering the first instance of a playable Ada before Separate Way 's inclusion in later releases, Assignment: Ada is unlikely to be re-released as DLC for Resident Evil 4 's remake - especially with Separate Ways all but confirmed.

With some DLC for Resident Evil 4 's remake already confirmed, and potentially more on the way, there's plenty of room for the game to expand its content, perhaps even elaborating on its final boss and ending . With The Mercenaries already announced for April 7, one of the original game's most popular bonus modes is already guaranteed to be returning. And, although it has yet to be announced or confirmed by Capcom, data mines make a Separate Ways DLC for Resident Evil 4 's remake almost certain.

Resident Evil 4 remake hints that Separate Ways DLC may be next

A datamine makes that hint more than just speculation

Resident Evil 4 ’s new remake will get a boost of free content with the addition of The Mercenaries mode on April 7 , but it appears that there will be another adventure coming to Capcom’s modernized survival horror game. A datamine of the game’s PC version indicates that the Separate Ways DLC that Capcom released for earlier versions of Resident Evil 4 may be coming to the remake as well.

According to a tweet from Resident Evil Central , members of the Resident Evil Wiki Discord community have dug up a reference to Separate Ways — or rather, The Another Order , as the add-on was known in Japan — in Resident Evil 4 ’s PC files.

Separate Ways is an unlockable expansion for Resident Evil 4 that gives players control of Ada Wong on her journey, which frequently intersects with Leon S. Kennedy and Luis Serra during the events of the main campaign. In the original incarnation of Separate Ways , Ada performs actions like ringing the church bell that ends the village’s attack on Leon, as well as preventing Leon’s death at the hands of Jack Krauser and securing the rocket launcher that Leon uses in the game’s final battle. (The original Resident Evil 4 also had a separate playable chapter named “Assignment: Ada,” during which Ada secures plaga samples for Albert Wesker.)

[ Warning: The following contains light spoilers for the end of Resident Evil 4 ’s remake.]

The Resident Evil 4 remake itself makes a pretty clear allusion to Separate Ways during an endgame conversation between Leon and Ada. It’s not very subtle!

re4 assignment ada remake

Capcom has not announced plans for downloadable content for Resident Evil 4 beyond April’s The Mercenaries update. Still, Capcom has released post-launch story content for the most recent mainline Resident Evil games. 2017’s Resident Evil 7 Biohazard received multiple major add-ons, including the episodes Not A Hero starring Chris Redfield and End of Zoe featuring a playable Joe Baker. Resident Evil Village received story-based DLC Shadows of Rose last year, letting players take on the role of Rose Winters.

Separate Ways could serve as a home to more than just fleshing out RE4 ’s story and Ada Wong’s involvement in game events. It could also serve as a home to cut content, like the battle against U-3. While that creature doesn’t appear in the main game, the remake references U-3 in its collectible files.

Resident Evil 4 is out now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. If you’re desperate to play as Ada Wong now, there’s a popular PC mod that swaps her model in for Leon’s . It’s no-frills, but it does offer players a chance to gaze upon Ada for the full length of RE4 ’s campaign if, for some inexplicable reason, looking at Leon S. Kennedy just isn’t your bag.

Separate Ways (known as the another order in Japan) is a minigame in all releases of Resident Evil 4 after the GameCube version, with the exception of the VR port (as of 11/27/2021). It is unlocked by completing the main game.

Chapter 1: Ring the Church Bell [ ]

96356

The story begins with Ada in the village centre; after fighting off a pair of Ganados, Ada is instructed by Wesker to ring the church bell, in turn pacifying the villagers. At that time, she notices Leon having troubles of his own, ambushed by a gang of villagers. Racing to the church, Ada discovers the door locked. The round insignia needed to open it is around the back, protected by a dial puzzle. Although she solves it, something must be placed in the mechanism to keep the gate behind her open. Heading along the shore, Ada encounters one of the Chainsaw Sisters. After defeating her, Ada retrieves the Green Catseye, returns to the church and solves a puzzle to retrieve the Round Insignia, then switches it with the Green Catseye. She uses the Insignia to enter the church, then solves the light puzzle later seen with Leon to ring the church bell, although bringing down the steel bars that prevented Leon from getting to Ashley.

Chapter 2: Rescue Luis Sera [ ]

Rescue luis (re4 danskyl7)

Reading a book about the villagers in the home of Bitores Méndez , Ada gets a call from Wesker to inform her that the researcher they planted, Luis Serra , has been captured by Méndez and is being held in a house on the other side of the village. Until he obtains the control plaga sample for them, he cannot be allowed to die. Ada remarks that Serra is quite high-maintenance and sets out to rescue him.

After fighting her way through the village, including Chainsaw Man , Ada arrives at the house only to find that Leon has also been captured and that the Ganados are moving both prisoners to the valley.

Racing back, Ada arrives at the chief's house just in time to save Leon from a quick death. However, this causes Méndez to chase after her instead. Eventually, Ada is tranquilized and captured.

A few hours later, Ada wakes up just in time to avoid a grisly death at the end of a Ganado's axe during an Illuminados sacrifice. She makes her way up to the lift control room to discover that she needs a key to activate the gondola lift. She goes to the barn where, in a few hours, Leon will face off against Chief Méndez. For now though, there are only a few villagers, including a second Chainsaw Sister who is possession of the key Ada needs to advance. Defeating her opponents, Ada uses the lift and proceeds on.

However, there is one last obstacle in her way: El Gigante . Either by fighting or fleeing, Ada gets past the monster arriving just after the siege on the cabin has ended. Luis informs her that he's on his way to get the sample. He asks her who she works for and she replies that there are things he's better off not knowing. He says he doesn't really care who she is as long as she gets rid of Saddler and Los Iluminados .

Chapter 3: Retrieve the Sample [ ]

546757

The chapter begins with Ada revealing herself to Leon and escaping into the hedge maze. Wesker calls her with important news: Luis has gotten his hands on the sample. Ada is to track him down and get it from him. Additionally, if Ada encounters Leon, she's ordered to take him out. He's a survivor of Raccoon City , Wesker says, they can do without the distraction.

The sudden arrival of the cultists somewhat hampers Ada's efforts to escape the maze, but she makes it with little difficulty. Making her way through the castle, including a fight with a Garrador, Ada stumbles upon Leon and is unable to help him as she'll have to kill him if he sees her.

Eventually she arrives at the meeting point only to witness Saddler kill Luis and take back the sample. Wesker calls, telling her that they might be able to use Leon as a distraction to harass Saddler and his men. Unbeknownst to Wesker, Ada's been doing that all along.

Chapter 4: Stop Leon's Assassination [ ]

Stop leon assasination (re4 danskyl7)

Krauser and Ada meet at the island's radio tower. Afterwards, Ada gets a call from Wesker informing her that he's dispatched Krauser to kill Leon. Ada reminds herself that she doesn't always play by Wesker's rules.

Finding herself in the shipping lane from the waste disposal center, Ada goes on the offensive through hordes of soldiers, even going so far as to sink the warship that Saddler has somehow recommissioned all by herself (she even used a pair of Gatling cannons to destroy the warship's onboard artillery).

Arriving at just the right time of Leon and Krauser's knife battle, Ada shoots Krauser's knife out of his hand as he is about to stab Leon in the heart and he is forced to flee.

Chapter 5: Obtain the Sample [ ]

Obtain the sample (re4 danskyl7)

As Mike and Leon decimate the military base, Ada informs Wesker that Krauser has been killed. Impressed, Wesker remarks that Leon doesn't die easily. He plans to use Leon to take care of Saddler. No matter who wins, the victor won't emerge unscathed and he instructs Ada to finish off whoever is left. Neither Leon nor Saddler can live to see tomorrow.

Clearing out what remains of the mercenary defenses, Ada meets up with Leon just in time to witness his Plaga try to assert itself. Going on ahead to let him compose himself, she defeats the meager resistance in the cell block. But as she's about to advance, she is nearly killed by a girder.

Krauser, badly burned and injured, had survived both Leon's assault and the explosions that destroyed the ruins and he intends to pay Ada back for her earlier humiliation. However, Ada has carefully studied his fighting style and, despite his arm, she is able to overcome her old ally, killing him for good.

Vlcsnap-2012-05-16-18h30m11s55

Ada holding Leon at gunpoint for the Plaga.

Immediately after, Ada arrives in the laboratory to distract Saddler, giving Leon the precious time he needs to rescue Ashley and escape. Unfortunately, she must now fight the deranged cult leader. Through a combination of wits and firepower, she is able to defeat him and finally gets her hands on the control plaga specimen. But she does not see one of Saddler's tentacles and is captured.

A short time later, Leon arrives on top of the structure where Saddler and Ada are waiting, Ada tied and hanging from a rope. Leon cuts her down and begins to fight the mutated Saddler. Ada, seeing a rocket launcher on another structure, goes on an all-out offensive, racing against both a swarm of Ganados and the timer of a great number of bombs. But she overcomes every obstacle, retrieving the launcher and, in a parallel of the same event six years earlier, tosses it to Leon at the last moment.

Holding Leon at gunpoint, she finally retrieves the plaga sample. Tossing Leon the key to a jet-ski, she takes off in her helicopter just before the island is destroyed.

Gameplay [ ]

The player controls Ada Wong for the game. Compared to Leon, the only gameplay differences will be Ada has a slightly faster movement speed, uses different melee attacks and can use the hookshot to reach areas that were impossible for Leon. The player begins the game with the default size attache case and 5 bars of health. Ada starts with the following items:

  • Shotgun (Ada's)
  • Handgun Ammo (30)
  • Shotgun Shells (15)
  • First Aid Spray

The game is spread out over five chapters (two for the village, one for the castle, two for the island), it is considerably longer and more complex than Assignment: Ada with save points and the Weapon Merchant available to the player. However, the weapon upgrade option of the Merchant is disabled in this mode.

Completing the game and saving leaves the file at a "New Round" state and the player can restart from the beginning with all their equipment and money carried over. The Chicago Typewriter can be made available for the mode by completing Assignment: Ada .

Rewards [ ]

With every completed chapter of Separate Ways , the player can view a new part of Ada's Report . The option is added to the "Extras" section in the main menu after unlocking the first report. The reports detail certain plot events and shine a light upon Ada's true motives.

Successfully completing Separate Ways will unlock the Chicago Typewriter for the main game. Additionally, the costume set "Special 2" can be selected when starting a new game in the main game. This consists of a mafia costume for Leon and a suit of armor for Ashley.

Further notes [ ]

Nikita cover (movie)

DVD cover for La Femme Nikita .

  • The title screen of the mode pays homage to La Femme Nikita .
  • Whilst fighting Ganados in the beginning of the game, you might see Leon in the distance running from a group of Ganados as well as several sound effects of him and Chainsaw Man. However, it is impossible to confront Leon in-game. The same thing occurs in the castle, in the room with the rocket launcher in a glass case, and finally in Leon's final battle with Saddler.
  • When visiting The Merchant for the first time, he claims to not be open at the time, which explains why he does not put up his blue torches. However, he can never deny a good stranger some weapons and will happily buy and sell with you.
  • In the village, Ada sees the Ganado that had stolen Leon's jacket.

How long does it take to beat star wars outlaws, black myth: wukong - complete guide and walkthrough.

My first foray into Resident Evil 4 was on the PS2 . I never touched the GameCube release that Capcom made irrelevant by announcing a port to a better platform before we even got a chance to play it. The exclusivity meant nothing, so for a lot of gamers, the wait for a version on Sony’s beloved second-generation console was more than worth it. I joined the ranks, and remember pinching a copy of the survival horror classic from my brother at the ripe age of 11 before promptly playing it to undeath. Even today, it remains a masterpiece.

It gave me nightmares, I still remember thinking about the hostile screeches of the Ganados and rustling winds outside my bedroom window, convinced that something awaited in the woods beyond. For context, I lived in a field in the middle of Wales which could double as the set for the Blair Witch Project, so it couldn’t get much spookier. But every fright was complemented by memorable characters and bombastic action set pieces that still impress, and as a closeted child who would grow up to not only be a girl, but like them too, Ada Wong hit different.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Preview

Square Enix is delivering a sequel that subverts, surprises, and could go anywhere.

The suave secret operative in a flowing red dress kicks ass and takes names, but we weren’t given a chance to play as her until the PS2 port. Even then, both of her smaller campaigns were made up of reworked environments and boss encounters designed around continuous waves of enemies instead of something more compelling. Assignment Ada is the shortest and least memorable of the two additional campaigns, which feels more like a fancy minigame than anything else.

Clad in spy attire, Ada is tasked with navigating the island from later on in the main game to acquire a number of Los Plagas samples before delivering them to her employer. The plot is technically non-canon, but words from Wesker in its final scenes do allude to the narrative of Resident Evil 5 in some ways. Assignment Ada is a fairly forgettable slice of action that not many of us talk about today, and I doubt it will surface in remade form like Separate Ways did. If it does, I hope it receives the same prestigious treatment.

Separate Ways was a different kettle of fish entirely, and back on the PS2, it aimed to explore the events of Resident Evil 4 from Ada’s perspective. We saved Leon from the evil clutches of Mendez, found the infected who stole his jacket, and embarked on a few other escapades that sought to explore more of her character. Consisting of five chapters and appearances by the likes of Leon, Luis, Krauser, Wesker, and Salazar, it’s a fairly robust mini-campaign which to most, would justify either the first or second purchase of the survival horror classic.

Separate Ways

Still, it was clearly operating with near identical assets and ideas from the original, so much so that I could see Ada being a skin with little distinction if I broke it all down. The remake goes way harder, weaving Ada’s journey into the events of the main game and giving her a meaningful arc of her own with greater moral duplicity. She is her own character now, building on her appearance in the Resi 2 remake with a willingness to betray her superiors if it means doing the right thing.

From early on in the campaign, we witness new interactions between Luis and Ada, along with frequent radio communication with Wesker that paints him as a far more sinister and less comical villain than past depictions. Ada is also infected this time around, battling with what appears to be a constantly evolving spectre that morphs the landscape and acts as a returning boss battle throughout. I’m yet to reach the end, but an omnipresent threat like this makes the mixture of new and returning environments feel that much fresher. You also have weapons not found in the main game, distinct puzzles, and upgrade paths to uncover. It’s not a bonus that Leon’s adventure can live without, but the last piece needed to complete the story.

Separate Ways

I’d recommend Separate Ways not just to Resident Evil fans after a neat paid bonus, but also newcomers and those who want all the possible context ahead of where Resident Evil goes next. It will no doubt tie in these interpretations of Leon and Ada into either more remakes or entirely new entries that take the canon to incredible places. There’s no way to know just yet, but this mystery only makes such a complementary expansion all the more exciting. Now I can’t wait to finish it before running through it again and again.

Does Resident Evil 4 remake have Separate Ways or Assignment Ada

Resident Evil 4 Remake: Is Separate Ways or Assignment Ada in the Game?

By Jason Faulkner

Separate Ways and Assignment: Ada aren’t included in Resident Evil 4 remake at launch. Unfortunately, like with The Mercenaries, it’ll be as DLC if these modes are added. Capcom hasn’t made any announcements concerning Ada’s stories, but there are some clues that Separate Ways is on its way.

Clues that Separate Ways DLC is coming to Resident Evil 4 remake

There are a few big hints that Separate Ways will come to Resident Evil 4 remake as DLC. The biggest one is that Ada and Wesker’s involvement and her reasons for being there are more nebulous this time around. It seems like the part she played was made more mysterious on purpose to leave those resolutions for Separate Ways.

There’s also a missing boss in the base game, which might have been moved to Ada’s story. In the remake, U-III is one of Salazar’s bodyguards. The one in the black robes mysteriously disappears on his orders and doesn’t appear again in the game. Leon kills the red-robed one in the mines. A few of the games files explain the creature’s background, so it’s a pretty big plothole unless Ada took care of it.

Additionally, after defeating Saddler, Ada tells Leon it’s time to “go their separate ways,” which seems like a big teaser.

Assignment Ada is also a very short but fun mini game similar to RE2 Extreme battle mode. Separate Ways is a 2nd shorter campaign of RE4 but more challenging than the main game on normal, it's got some tedious parts, some annoying parts but overall worth playing at least once.
