We're sure most people have put a packet of Mentos in Diet Coke and enjoyed the ensuing carnage by this point. But in terms of science experiments you can do at home, that's just the tip of the iceberg.

If you like watching weird and wacky science experiments, YouTube is a treasure trove of content. With that in mind, here are the best YouTube channels full of people doing madcap science experiments.

1. Doctor Mad Science

Have you ever wondered what happens if you put a grape in the microwave? Or what happens if you combine milk and soap? Doctor Mad Science has the answers.

A 15-year-old autistic boy called Jordan hosts the channel. Impressively, in addition to hosting, Jordan also records and edits all of the content.

His channel is filled with science experiments that use household products, meaning anyone can try them in their own home. Just make sure you take appropriate safety measures before starting!

2. Brusspup

The Brusspup channel goes in a different direction. It explores the boundaries between science and amazing optical illusions .

If you subscribe, you can look forward to finding out what happens when UV light hits sand or how to control magnets using static electricity.

One of the channel's most popular videos (with almost 30 million views) is "10 Amazing Paper Tricks". It's impressive stuff, so make sure you check it out.

3. Whizz Kid Science

Whizz Kid Science is another channel that's hosted by a child. The presenter is 13, but he often ropes in his younger brother and sister in be part of whatever experiment he is conducting.

Some of the channel's most-watched videos include "Five Amazing Egg Experiments" and "Top Seven Colorful Experiments".

The Whizz Kid Science channel also features a handful of how-to videos that straddle the divide between science and children's activities. Examples include "How to Make Chocolate Slime" and "Glow Stick Hacks for Kids".

Note: The same child is also responsible for the excellent Whizz Kid Math and Whizz Kid Play channels.

4. Incredible Science

Kids love a fad. It doesn't matter how old you are; you'll definitely be able to recall something from your childhood that everyone badly wanted then quickly got bored with (Tamagotchi, anyone?).

The Incredible Science channel aims to put those fad products to good use by extrapolating science lessons from them. We had no idea that a fidget spinner could be such a great learning tool.

There are also plenty of other experiments that don't use toys. The most viewed video investigates the weird science behind polymer balls. At the time of writing it has been viewed more than 70 million times.

5. MC Experiments

If you have kids, the kitchen is a fantastic place to do science. There are so many things that you can combine to learn more about the world.

The MC Experiments channel takes the kitchen idea and runs with it. All the experiments on the channel are kid-friendly and can be performed using items that most families will have lying around.

Bouncing eggs, lava in a cup, and fun with food coloring---the channel has it all.

6. The Quirkles

The Quirkles is a 26-book science series for kids. Each book featured a different imaginary scientist who takes the reader on a journey through the subject matter. The YouTube channel is a spinoff from the book series.

It differs from the other channels on this list thanks to its focus on seasonal science. You'll see experiments geared towards the time of year, but also towards events such as Halloween and Valentine's Day.

7. Sick Science

Sick Science is the brainchild of Steve Spangler. Steve is an American TV personality, science teacher, toy designer, and author, meaning he's well-placed to perform some entertaining weird and wacky science experiments.

Some of his most fun videos include "Liquid Light", "Exploding Egg", and "Make Your Own Lightsaber".

Unfortunately, Spangler is slow to release new videos, so you can expect just a couple per year. Nonetheless, the back catalog is impressive enough.

8. The Spangler Effect

The clue is in the name. The Spangler Effect is Steve Spangler's second YouTube channel. Thankfully, this one receives new content far more frequently---you'll get at least eight new videos every month.

The content is broadly similar to Sick Science. If you want to see fire tornadoes, fizzy reaction contests, colorful convection currents, and magnetic slime, this is the channel for you.

The most viewed video on the channel is an experiment that shows you how it's possible to unlock a car using nothing more than water. It has racked up 4.2 million views and counting.

9. The Backyard Scientist

It's fair to say that The Backyard Scientist channel should come with a giant "Do Not Try This at Home" warning.

But, while the channel's videos might be somewhat dangerous, they're also packed with incredible science and wild experiments.

Honestly, we'd never given a thought to what happens when you pour molten aluminum into a watermelon before, but now we're glad we know.

Other examples of what to expect include putting molten salt into water, what happens if you microwave a microwave, and whether someone can escape a human-sized glue trap.

10. Applied Science

Our final recommendation is Applied Science. It's slightly less wacky than some of the other channels on this list, but the experiments are still fun and will teach you a lot.

If you subscribe, you'll be able to learn what happens if you blow mold over plastic bottles or dissolve lithium in anhydrous ammonia. The channel's most popular video looks at how to make a refrigerator work using rubber bands.

There are even some videos for foodies (which you can watch when you run out of Netflix documentaries for foodies ). You can find out how a potato chip reacts if you fry it in Fluorinert FC-40 or how to make chocolate whip using high-pressure nitrous oxide.

You may think of science as something that can only be explored in universities or laboratories, but you'd be wrong. Science is accessible everywhere, of course, but most easily (and entertainingly) on YouTube. These fun channels talk physics, biology, math, and even perform cool experiments.

While YouTube plays host to all manner of videos---for things like guitar maintenance , building your PC , documentaries , and even just some weird, funny stuff ---it's an excellent repository for science-centric videos. These are the best science YouTube channels, and we're sure that they'll both delight and educate you!

Hosted by the delightful Hank Green (with occasional guest hosts), SciShow is your one-stop shop dedicated to answering weird counter-intuitive scientific questions. It's the perfect channel for anyone interested in science, regardless of whether you're a veteran scientist or just a naturally-curious person.

SciShow covers a wide variety of topics, and videos are filled with fun and entertaining graphics that viewers of all ages can enjoy. The Slow Mo Guys is the type of channel you could have playing on your TV all day and one that both kids and adults will love watching. The boys' personalities are a ton of fun, and they're always laughing and having a good time. Some of our fave Slow Mo Guys videos include " Slow Mo 4K Kittens ," " Iceland's Geyser in 4K Slow Mo ," " Spark Plug vs Car Window at 800,000FPS ," and " Rainbow Paint on a Speaker at 12,500FPS ."

Destin Sandlin, the man behind SmarterEveryDay, is a professional aerospace engineer. With such impressive education at hand, you can bet the channel has some mighty scientific videos at the ready. On it, Sandlin tackles a variety of scientific questions, performs intense (and super cool) experiments, and shows how gadgets (common and otherwise) work or how they're made.

We love " How Carburetors are Made (Basically Magic) ," " How Does the James Webb Space Telescope Work? ," " What Happens When 2 Weedeaters Hit Each Other? ," and " How Neil Armstrong Trained to Land on the Moon ." Sandlin's friendly and knowledgeable personality makes the channel super approachable no matter your science education level.

Flashy science experiments and explainer-style videos are cool, but many science channels tend to skip over and ignore the more heavy-hitting questions in the universe. Kurzgesagt , German for "in a nutshell," covers this with ease and throws in bright, colorful graphics to make things easier to digest. The channel blends science and philosophy (which tend to be two sides of the same coin) with ease, which is why we're such big fans of the edutainment channel.

Turn your world upside down with videos like " Optimistic Nihilism " and " Why Alien Life Would Be Our Doom ," think about biology with " How Bacteria Rule Over Your Body ," or get cozy with astronomy-centric videos like " The Largest Black Hole in the Universe " or " What if Earth Got Kicked Out of the Solar System? " Although the videos might rattle your views on, well, just about everything, they're incredibly well-researched and educational. And don't worry about that feeling that'll set in after watching a few of Kurzgesagt's videos---that's just the Existential dread setting in. You'll be fine.

The Veritasium channel---run by Dr. Derek Muller---does a great job tackling science at large, and it's no wonder why. Muller completed his Doctorate with a thesis focusing on creating effective multimedia for physics-centric education. As you'd expect, then, the channel is a long-running favorite within the scientific community and a great place to take a deeper dive into physics.

On Veritasium, you'll find videos that blend physics, everyday objects, and issues relevant to life and science education. There are more serious science- and math-centric videos to view, like " Math Has a Fatal Flaw " and " How Imaginary Numbers Were Invented ;" some more socially-focused videos, including " These Pools Help Support Half the People on Earth ;" and more general and lighthearted videos like " Engineering with Origami " and " Microwaving Grapes Makes Plasma ."

Have you seen those fantastic Glitter Bomb videos that get revenge on porch pirates ? That's Mark Rober's genius mind at work, and his channel is a blast to watch. He studied Mechanical Engineering and worked for NASA JPL for nearly a decade, and his engineering experience is what makes the videos on his channel so darn fun!

Aside from the various Glitter Bomb videos (including this fascinating video where he took down phone scammers targeting the elderly), the channel features a variety of playlists for things like DIY builds & inventions, science education, and world records. We love " Shark vs. GoPro ," " Automatic Bullseye, MOVING DARTBOARD ," " Backyard Squirrel Maze 2.0---The Walnut Heist ," and " World's Longest Field Goal---Robot vs NFL Kicker ." And as you might have surmised, the channel features fun video options for both kids and adults.

Last but certainly not least is Vsauce (aka Vsauce1). The channel's videos span general scientific topics and extend across philosophy, mathematics, pop culture, technology, and psychology. There are two other Vsauce channels, too: Vsauce2 ---covering unusual gadgets, knowledge, and people (and more specifically, things related to probability, dilemmas, and paradoxes)---and Vsauce3 , which discusses fictional worlds, especially those from video games and how they connect to real life and actual science.

We think the best place to start is the regular ol' Vsauce1 channel. There, you'll find unique videos like " How Many Things Are There? ," " Which Way is Down? " " How Earth Moves ," " What is the Resolution of the Eye? ," and " What is the Speed of Dark? " The channel's unique videos cover all kinds of topics and questions you probably didn't know that you wanted to know about, and we're sure you'll enjoy it.

An early look at the possibilities as we experiment with AI and Music

Today we’re sharing a sneak peek at our first set of AI-related music experiments - Dream Track for Shorts and Music AI tools – built in collaboration with Google DeepMind.

The emergence of AI has brought music to the cusp of a new creative era. As a myriad of companies map out their AI approach, we want ours to be defined by partnership and responsibility. That's why we developed a set of AI Music principles and a Music AI incubator published earlier this year that are rooted in responsible collaboration. Since then, we’ve been exploring the possibilities of how AI can empower creativity alongside artists, songwriters, producers and our partners while also identifying its challenges. By testing and learning, we can better understand how to enhance artist and industry opportunity and deepen fan engagement, benefiting the broader music community.

Introducing Dream Track - an experiment on YouTube Shorts - featuring Charlie Puth

With that in mind, today we’re sharing an early look at some of the AI music experiments we’ve been developing together with Google DeepMind. While initially only available to a small group of artists and creators, we look forward to hearing their feedback to inform future products and tools.

Introducing the Dream Track for Shorts and Music AI Tools Experiments

First up is an experiment we are calling Dream Track in YouTube Shorts, powered by Google DeepMind’s most advanced music generation model to date, Lyria . At this initial phase, the experiment is designed to help explore how the technology could be used to create deeper connections between artists and creators, and ultimately, their fans. Starting today, 9 artists including Alec Benjamin, Charlie Puth, Charli XCX, Demi Lovato, John Legend, Papoose, Sia, T-Pain, and Troye Sivan who have chosen to collaborate in this experiment and work with us to shape the future of AI in music, are giving a small group of select US creators the chance to create unique soundtracks of up to 30 seconds for their Shorts. By simply typing an idea into the creation prompt and selecting a participating artist that appears in the carousel, an original Shorts soundtrack featuring the AI-generated voice of that artist will be produced for the creator to use in their Short.

Introducing Music AI Tools - Louis Bell, Producer/Songwriter, builds a track with just a hum

The artists, songwriters and producers in the Music AI Incubator are helping us test, learn, gain feedback and hear ideas so that we can develop the best experiences possible for our community of artists, viewers and fans. It was clear early on that this initial group of participants were intensely curious about AI tools that could push the limits of what they thought possible. They also sought out tools that could bolster their creative process. As a result, those early sessions led us to iterate on a set of music AI tools that experiment with those concepts. Imagine being able to more seamlessly turn one's thoughts and ideas into music; like creating a new guitar riff just by humming it or taking a pop track you are working on and giving it a reggaeton feel. We’re developing prospective tools that could bring these possibilities to life and Music AI Incubator participants will be able to test them out later this year.

Combined, these experiments explore the potential of AI features to help artists and creators stretch their imaginations and augment their creative processes. And in turn, fans will be able to connect to the creatives they love in new ways, bringing them closer together through interactive tools and experiences. All of this will help us iterate and enhance the technology, informing applications for the future.

What's a rollout?

A rollout is a gradual launch of a new feature. Sometimes, to make sure that it goes smoothly, we don't show a new feature to everyone at once. Instead, we start with a small percentage of viewers and/or creators and increase that percentage over time until everyone has the new feature.

Best YouTube Channels with Science Experiment for Kids

Science experiments are fun and educational and there are many books filled with various experiments that you can do at home. And while the books and pictures are great, a lot more can be learned by watching the experiments being conducted. Because science is so visual, watching a video tutorial of an experiment being conducted is often much more helpful that just reading about the experiment.

Because of that, I put together a list of the best YouTube Channels that walk you through science experiments so you can follow along at home.

Best YouTube Channels with Science Experiments for Kids

Hoopla Kids Lab

This is a great channel that has been around for more than 2 year and contains 100+ experiment videos. The videos on the individual experiment are narrated making it easy to follow along to the instruction while doing the experiment at home. While the videos showing multiple experiments are great for watching and observing what happens.

Sick Science!

All of Steve Spangler’s YouTube channels are worth watching, but this is our favorite. The videos are short, catchy, educational and there are 500+ to choose from. The instructions are written on the screen and they aren’t narrated, so children who are able to read along will get the most benefit from watching them.

Doctor Mad Science

This channel shares simple science experiments, hosted by an 13 year old autistic boy named Jordan. My kids have fun watching experiments that are being conducted and explained by another child.

I’d like to think I’ve saved the best for last! You know I couldn’t create a list of the best Science YouTube Channels without mentioning Cool Science Experiment Headquarters. On the channel you will find simple experiments that you can do at home. You’ll see my kids and I conducting the experiment and the videos are narrated so you can easily follow along at home. YouTube is a black hole of information, silliness, and cats. Sometimes the latter two take up much of our screen time. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t a world of incredible science videos that can help us understand how the world works. If you’re looking for something to pique your curiosity, give you some fun facts for your next dinner party, or just good old scientific entertainment; check out some of the channels listed below. 

1. Big Think

If you’re an information junkie, this is the YouTube channel for you. Each video you scroll through is about another topic that you never even realized you wanted to learn about. And with the biggest experts on board, such as Bill Nye and Bill Clinton, there’s no topic too big or too small. Some of the subjects you’ll find include cryptocurrency, PTSD, creativity, homosexuality, and much more.

2. In a Nutshell

In a Nutshell is a great way to fill up on a daily or weekly dose of science. It's animated, uses simple language, and zooms out to look at the bigger picture of various topics. For anyone who is interested in extraterrestrial life and “what if” scenarios this is your go-to channel. Playlists include universe and space stuff, human stuff (including the science of loneliness and consciousness), medicine and biology, plus even an existential crisis playlist for the daring among us.

This YouTube channel has well-edited videos that give a stimulating look at various scientific topics like How to Count Past Infinity and What is the Speed of Dark. At Vsauce you will find topics for both the beginner and the science geek. Some of the most successful videos on the channel are in the Mindfield series, which include topics such as isolation, conformity, and moral licensing.

4. Crash Course

This classic YouTube channel is perfect if you want to get the basics on pretty much any topic. Videos average 11 minutes long and will give you the 101 on subjects such as sociology, engineering, theater, electronic computing, and much, much more. Their popular videos frequently reach 20 million views and include titles such as Brain Tricks, How Old Are Your Ears, and What Color is This Dress? The songs are probably some of the best content- if you haven’t checked out the Periodic Table of Elements song yet you should probably do that now.

6. The King of Random

This channel is dedicated to piquing your curiosity through life hacks, experiments, and strange DIY projects. The Kind of Random definitely speaks to its namesake, testing out combinations that you’d never think to question yourself, like 'What Does Liquid Nitrogen Do to Your Face?' These videos will definitely make you think twice about the strange stuff we can do with household items like ramen noodles and toilet paper. Be careful not to encourage kids to do these things alone as some of the materials can be dangerous.

7. BBC Earth Unplugged

BBC’s Earth Unplugged displays a range of videos including their popular and incredible footage of difference plant, animal, and insect species (including slow-motion and time-lapse) as well as behind the scenes footage of some of their network programs. They also have a great question and answer segment that allows you to interact with them. Fans have asked some great questions such as, How do insects breathe?

8. Healthcare Triage

For those interested in learning more about the world of health, this channel will feed your curiosity. They cover everything from national healthcare systems to common misconceptions. Videos are short (averaging about 7 minutes) so even if you don’t have a ton of free time you can catch a few of these segments and gain some new insight.

Sometimes we don’t want to witness the know-it-alls of the planet explain everything. So, if you feel like watching a goofy man who doesn’t know what he’s doing and tries his luck with electricity inspired experiments you have found the place. If you’re looking for something educational for youngsters, this channel has short, sweet, and accessible content. Visuals are animated to help kids process the information and the hostess is energetic and colorful to keep them engaged. We’ve shared many fun activities for kids on iGameMom STEM , but many times you just need some inspiration on ideas, and sometimes, need help figuring out how to do those fun experiments.  Good movies for kids and educational videos to the rescue! Today we share YouTube channels that have cool science experiment videos for kids. We particularly picked those with videos showing how to do some simple and amazing experiments with materials you can find at home and are reasonably safe to perform at home environments, so you can actually follow the instructions and see the results first hand.

Sick Science is one of the first that led us to YouTube. There are many cool science experiments for kids. Most are easy experiments and activities you can do at home.

Incredible Science has a lot fun science videos, there are videos just explain science phenomena to kids, but a large section is home science experiments.

Crazy Russian Hacker is simply amazing. He’s got so many unexpected ideas and experiments, from opening a can without a can opener, to how to cut watermelon. Do you want to know what is going to happen if you boil Coke?

Doctor Mad Science is hosted by an 12 year old boy with autism named Jordan. Jordan does all the experiments, and all the experiments are easy and simple that you can do at home.

Hoopla Kidz Lab has a lot videos explaining about science, and there is a section of science experiments to encourage hands-on science learning at home.

Coconut Science Lab has many science videos about space and spaceship. One section is DIY science that kids can do at home.

Brusspup : tons of amazing science experiments about illusions. One of my favorites is the one with several paper tricks.

MC Experiments has many simple science for you to do in your kitchen that are safe for young children to perform.

The Quirkles has many seasonal science activity ideas for kids. It is a great place to visit during holiday breaks.

Video experiments boost creative performance on YouTube

Experimentation should be a critical part of any successful marketing strategy . Relying on proven results is how leading marketers stay agile in dynamic markets, craft more effective campaigns at scale and identify the true impact of their efforts on business results. 

Knowing the outsized impact of creative on driving sales , we’re launching video experiments globally in Google Ads over the next several weeks. These experiments are easy to set up and quick to deliver results you can act on. So whether you’re looking to understand the impact of different video ads on Brand Lift , conversions or CPAs, you too can make more informed decisions that improve your results on YouTube.

Keep up with the pace of change

Given how rapidly our environment and consumer behaviors are evolving, it can be challenging for marketers to stay on top of how their brands can connect with consumers. But it shouldn’t be a challenge to get results and insights to help guide you. Running an experiment on YouTube means starting with a question or a hypothesis and, often in a matter of weeks or even days, understanding approaches that work and, equally importantly, ones that don’t. 

Take  Decathlon , for example. The sporting goods retailer was interested in seeing if video creatives customized for key audience segments would be more effective than using a single standard creative. Thanks to video experiments, they were able to learn that the customized approach resonated much more with audiences and drove business impact: they saw 175% more incremental online conversions at a 64% lower cost-per-conversion and boosted return on ad spend (ROAS) by 51%. 

Improve creative and business results

In global studies we ran in 2019 and 2020, advertisers who successfully used video experiments to optimize for lower funnel performance on YouTube saw a 30% lower median cost-per-acquisition from the better performing creative. And those who used video experiments to optimize for upper funnel impact saw a 60% higher ad recall from the better performing creative. (Successful experiments were those with a significant difference in Brand Lift between experiment arms.)

A creative test entails showing two distinctly different video ads to the same audience. You may choose to experiment with different  visual language elements  like framing, pacing, brightness or text. That’s what India-based life insurance company Aegon Life did. By experimenting with different text overlays, they were able to drive 139% more conversions and 23% lower CPA. 

No matter what you decide to test, you’ll be on your way to consistently improving your video ads through data, not just gut feelings. The ultimate goal of experimenting is not only about boosting a single campaign’s performance, but also about knowing what works for your brand and audience on YouTube more broadly. That’s why insights from experiments are so essential to helping you make video ads that consistently drive better outcomes for your business. 

Here are three easy experiments, all of which borrow from our  best practices for video ads , that can help you find your creative sweet spot on YouTube: 

Supersize text.  Does making text elements (including logos) bigger drive more brand awareness?

Tighten framing.  Does zooming in on important subjects, whether they’re people or products, drive higher consideration?

Make it easy to buy. Does placing the call to action at the beginning of the video drive more conversions than placing it at the end?

For anyone with an interest in science that doesn’t have access to a lab, YouTube can be your best friend. Professional and amateur chemists all over the world post their science experiments on YouTube for viewers to be amazed and educated by.

We’ve found some of the best science experiments on YouTube. Here you will find video chemistry experiments, demonstrations and chemical reactions. Safety is a priority when carrying out any of these science experiments. Always wear gloves and other appropriate safety clothing, and carry out experiments in a well-ventilated area.

The Royal Institution has a thriving YouTube channel filled with videos of science experiments and findings from social science experiments. It’s an attraction for people of all ages and abilities, but they have one playlist that gets a lot of attention in the world of science education: ExpeRimental .

This playlist is full of fun science experiments that kids will love and can try at home, at school, or in the playground – with adult supervision!

2. Incredible Iodine Chemical Clock Reaction, Incredible Science

Incredible Science has a YouTube channel that kids could spend hours looking at and recreating some of the tricks. Incredible Science shows us how to make edible slime in the microwave, edible water balls and more – if it’s slimy, colourful and can be made at home, you will probably find it here.

3. black snake science experiment, crazy russian hacker.

Crazy Russian Hacker is a YouTube presence well-known for his “out-there” science experiments and life hacks – usually ones you should not try at home! You can expect explosions and funny commentary, as well as science and safety information.

His playlists include ‘Cool Science Tricks’, with everyday items such as water bottles and butter, ‘Incredible Chemical Reactions’ and ‘Zombie Survival Tips’. You’ll also find life hacks on subjects like ‘How to peel an egg like a boss’.

4. Elephant’s Toothpaste, Science Bob

Science Bob has a popular YouTube channel filled with science experiments and science demonstrations. He even appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live a few years ago to showcase some of them.

Science Bob demonstrated a number of science experiments to Jimmy Kimmel and his live audience, introducing the amazing results we can achieve with science. One experiment was the famous Elephant’s Toothpaste experiment. This uses potassium iodide and washing-up liquid to catalyse the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide , resulting in a huge explosion of colourful foam:

5. fire water balloon, sick science.

Making science fun, Sick Science! is comprised of videos containing science tricks and food science – most of which you could replicate and impress your friends with!

In this video, the host of Sick Science! demonstrates what you can achieve with just a little bit of science knowledge, and presents a demonstration using nothing but water, a balloon, and a candle. By adding some water into the balloon before blowing it up, the balloon will no longer burst on contact with the flame. This is because water is a great conductor of heat. Check it out:

6. copper sulphate (slow motion), periodic videos.

Periodic Videos is an online resource that can really educate you on some aspects of chemistry. The host discusses what is happening in the chemical reactions and has uploaded a number of slow motion videos so you can examine the results in more detail.

Watch a chemical reaction in slow motion as copper sulphate and ammonia react, resulting in colour change and precipitation. The pale blue solid we’re left with is a mixture of copper hydroxide and copper sulphate. Just be careful when handling these chemicals as both can be harmful if inhaled or touched.

7. Reaction Between Iodine and Zinc, koen2all

Koen2all has a YouTube channel full of chemistry reactions and text explanations of what is going on in each video. The videos are silent and there are no gimmicks; just clear demonstrations and a bit of information about the chemical reactions.

This chemistry experiment shows the exothermic reaction between iodine and zinc, which gives off a purple smoke with the addition of water. Always remember to wear eye protection if you decide to do this one!

8. Sulphuric Acid and Sponge Reaction, Crazy Russian Hacker

Another chemistry experiment from Crazy Russian Hacker – he has such a wide variety of videos that will appeal to everyone (even those who hated Chemistry at school). His videos present the exciting results you can achieve and he stresses that safety is the number 1 priority.

In this video, CRH shows how sulphuric acid seems to burn through a sponge and cause a black, fizzing deposit – even though the acid is not hot. He encourages viewers to discuss the science in the comments section to explain why the reaction occurs.

9. Making Crystals, The Q

You can check out the Q for a huge range of ‘How to’ videos, from how to make a car at home and how to make chainmail out of coins, to the video we’re talking about today – how to grow crystals from the comfort of your own home.

This video demonstrates how we can experiment with different salts to crystallise them, leading to different sizes and colours of crystals.

10. Chemical Traffic Light, Thoisoi2

This video from Thoisoi2 shows a chemical “traffic light” reaction, where a solution changes into the colours of traffic lights simply by being shaken up. The video gives clear instructions on how to carry out the science experiment yourself and gives the science behind why the reaction occurs.

This entire YouTube channel is filled with science demonstrations – some of which viewers can try out – and the host is working to encourage others to share his love of science.
