Ginna Review: Routine Attempt

Manchu Vishnu aggressively marketed "Ginna." He even stated that he has decided to only do comedies in the future. He was certain that "Ginna" would provide him with much-needed success.

Let's see if his words are true.

Story: Ginna owns a Tent house in the village of Rangampet. He is struggling financially and has a lot of debt to pay off. Renuka (Sunny Leone), a beautiful and wealthy woman, returns from the United States to this village in search of her estranged uncle (Naresh). Renuka is a mute girl.

Ginna and his girlfriend (Payal Rajput) devise a scheme to steal money from Renuka and pay off his debts. Renuka, much to their surprise, offers to lend Ginna money and reveals that her sole reason for visiting this village is to marry Ginna.

Who exactly is Renuka, and what is her secret? 

Artistes’ Performances: Manchu Vishnu has played a fun character. Aside from the standard songs and fights, he delegates more work to other actors. Sunny Leone plays a girl who has a medical problem. She is a glamorous psychopath. She plays her part well. 

Payal Rajput has little to do. Chammak Chandra and Vennela Kishore act their roles as usual. Sunil makes an appearance in one scene. Naresh is fine.

Technical Excellence: Even though the film is mostly set in a village and some part in a resort, senior cameraman Chota K Naidu ensures that the visuals are grand. Songs by Anup Rubens are adequate. Dialogues are acceptable.

Highlights: A couple of entertaining parts Sunny Leone’s scenes

Analysis In his career, Manchu Vishnu has had success with comedies (Kona Venkat and G Nageswara Reddy wrote "Dhee" and "Doosukeltha," for example). Following a string of failures, Manchu Vishnu hired writer Kona Venkat to pen the story for him, and "Ginna" happened. Kona Venkat wrote the screenplay in his regular format as in the horror comedy “Geetanjali”. The only difference is, there is no horror or ghost element in “Ginna”. 

The movie begins and ends similarly to Allari Naresh's comedies. The first half of the film focuses on Ginna's tent house problems, his romance with his girlfriend, Raghu Babu's challenges, and so on. When Sunny Leone arrives in the village, the plot twists. Then we get some cheap comedy from Chammak Chandra, who is hired to translate Sunny Leone's mute expressions. He passes lewd remarks at Sunny Leone.

Following lengthy comedy episodes, the ghost begins her act and a flashback occurs, as seen in "Geetanjali." Similarly, after the comedy segment concludes, Sunny Leone begins to murder people. The filmmakers attempted to bring laughs with Chammak Chandra's fears for being a witness to her murderous act. We don't see any spirits, unlike in "Geetanjali." 

Aside from a few comedic moments, the film's narrative is outdated. Suryaa, the new director, lacks the ability to give the clichéd story a modern twist. He directed the film in the style of G Nageswara Reddy.

Even the dialogues lack newness. Sample: “Ginna Ante Poyyi Meeda Karige Venna Kaadura Load Chesina Gun”. 

While Vishnu’s attempt to move to comedies is laudable, he should have invested money and time for new writers who come up with fresh ideas. It’s time he should reinvent himself. 

On the whole, “Ginna” is a clichéd comedy with few redeeming factors.

Story Review

Ginna's story is all about a youngster Ginna and how he overcomes his problems in his personal and professional life. Gali Nageswara Rao aka Ginna (Manchu Vishnu) runs a tent house in his village and he has a dream of becoming the Village President. But his debts prevent him from doing so. How Ginna manages to come out of the problems, and how it affects his relations with his childhood friends Swathi (Payal Rajput), Swathi (Sunny Leone), Vennela Kishore (Mysore Babji), and what role does Village President Tippeswara Rao (Raghu Babu), Veerasawy (Naresh), Rakesh Master (Chammak Chandra) form the crux of the story.

Artists, Technicians Review

Story of Ginna provided by Kona Venkat though routine is high on humor. Director Eeshan Suryaah did full justice to the story with his screenplay and direction. The narration starts on a predictable note and goes in a slow manner. After a few romantic and hilarious scenes, the first half ends with an interesting interval twist which viewers never expect. The second half picks up the pace and with hilarious and horror elements, interest levels increases among viewers. But into the pre-climax and climax, everything turns out to be routine.

Manchu Vishnu delighted all his fans by appearing on the screen after a long time. He worked hard and performed extremely well. He did full justice to his role and showed the right kind of expression and emotions. He excelled in romantic scenes and enacted high-octane stunts with ease. His dialogue delivery is good. His chemistry between Payal Rajput and Sunny Leone attracts the masses.

Sunny Leone turned redhot on the screen. She set the screens on fire with her glamor treat. Apart from it, the surprise element associated with her role drives viewers crazy. Payal Rajput performed a traditional role and she did a good job. Payal Rajput toned down her glamor treat compared to Sunny Leone.

Vennela Kishore and Chammak Chandra created a laughing riot with their scenes on the screen. Naresh, Sunil, Suresh, Raghu Babu, and Annapurna did full justice to their roles. Dialogues penned by Bhanu and Nandu are good. Music of Anup Rubens is ok and songs give a full treat to the masses. But at times they acted as speed breakers. Anup Rubens' background music is good. Chota K Naidu showcased the rural and village atmosphere to perfection. The editing of Chota K Prasad could have been better especially in the first half and for some parts in the second half. Production values are good.

Rating Analysis

Manchu Vishnu who reeled under a string of flops has taken a long break before deciding to make his comeback with Ginna. The film's unique title attracted the attention of all. The makers timed the film's release in such a way on Diwali eve to entertain the masses. Kona Venkat and his team penned hilarious dialogues and with the film loaded with mass commercial elements, they ticked all the right boxes. But the slow pace, routine story undid their good work. But Eshaan Suryaah balanced it with the thrilling twits and the glamor treat doled out by Sunny Leone makes up for everything. Altogether Ginna is a mass entertainer with interesting twists. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2.75 rating for Ginna.

తిరుపతిలో ఆర్టీసీ కండక్టర్‌గా పనిచేసే ప్రసాద్ (విశ్వదేవ్), సరస్వతి (నివేదా థామస్) మధ్య తరగతి కుటుంబంతో ఇద్దరు పిల్లలతో సాఫీగా జీవితాన్ని కొనసాగిస్తుంటాడు. ఇద్దరు కొడుకులు స్కూల్‌లో చదువుతుంటారు. 11 ఏళ్ల పెద్దబ్బాయి అరుణ్ శర్మ‌కు మ్యాథమెటిక్స్‌ సబ్జెక్ట్ అంటే చాలా భయం. ప్రతీ క్లాస్‌లోను ఫెయిల్ అవుతుంటూ వస్తుంటాడు. అలా 5వ తరగతి వరకు కూడా లెక్కల్లో సున్నా మార్కులే వస్తాయి. దాంతో ఆ అబ్బాయిని స్కూల్ నుంచి పంపించాలని టీచర్ చాణక్య ( ప్రియదర్శి) నిర్ణయం తీసుకొంటాడు.

అరుణ్ శర్మకు లెక్కల సబ్జెక్ట్‌ అంటే ఎందుకు ఇష్టం ఉండదు? స్కూల్‌లో అరుణ్ శర్మ ప్రవర్తనతో చాణక్య ఎలా విసిగిపోయాడు? చాణక్యను అరుణ్ ఎలా ఇబ్బంది పెట్టాడు? చదువులో వెనకబడి ఉన్న కొడుకును చూసి ప్రసాద్ ఎలా మనస్తాపం చెందారు. తన కొడుకు పరిస్థితి చూసి సరస్వతి ఎలాంటి నిర్ణయం తీసుకొన్నది? చివరకు లెక్కల సబ్జెక్ట్‌లో అరుణ్ శర్మ ఎలాంటి పురోగతి సాధించాడు? మ్యాథమెటిక్స్‌లో అరుణ్ పాస్ అయ్యాడా? అనే ప్రశ్నలకు సమాధానమే 35 ఒక చిన్న కథ కాదు సినిమా.

స్కూల్‌లో దాదాపు ఎక్కువ మంది విద్యార్థులకు లెక్కల సబ్జెక్ అంటే భయం. ఆ పాయింట్‌ను తీసుకొని దానికి మధ్య తరగతి జీవితం చుట్టూ అల్లుకొన్న కథ, పాత్రలు బాగున్నాయి. తిరుపతి బ్యాక్ డ్రాప్ కావడంతో కొంత ఆడియెన్స్‌కు ఫీల్ గుడ్ ఫ్యాక్టర్‌గా మారింది. అయితే అరుణ్ పాత్ర పోషించిన అబ్బాయితో దర్శకుడు కిషోర్ ఈమాని నటన రాబట్టుకొన్న విధానం ఈ సినిమాకు అత్యంత బలంగా మారింది. అలాగే తల్లి పాత్రకు నివేదా థామస్‌ను, తండ్రి పాత్రకు విశ్వదేవ్ పాత్రలను ఎంచుకోవడంతోనే సగం సక్సెస్ కొట్టాడని చెప్పవచ్చు.

35 చిన్న కథ కాదు సినిమా ఫస్టాఫ్ చాలా ఫన్నీగా, ఫ్యామిలీ ఎమోషన్స్‌తో సరదాగా సాగిపోతుంది. నివేదా థామస్, విష్ణుదేవ్ మధ్య మిడిల్ క్లాస్ లైఫ్‌లో ఉండే అనూభూతులను చక్కగా తెర మీద పలికించారు. వారిద్దరి మధ్య కెమిస్ట్రీ అద్బుతంగా పండింది. ఇక అరుణ్ కారెక్టర్ చేసే అల్లరి.. ప్రియదర్శి నటన, బాడీ లాంగ్వేజ్ చాలా బాగుంది. ఇక సెకండాఫ్‌లో ఫ్యామిలీలో జరిగే భావోద్వేగ సన్నివేశాలు మనసును హత్తుకొంటాయి. కొన్ని సీన్లు హృదయాన్ని కలిచివేస్తాయి.

ఇక నివేదా థామస్ సరస్వతి పాత్రలో అద్బుతంగా నటించింది. తన కెరీర్‌లో బెస్ట్ ఫెర్ఫార్మెన్స్ ఇచ్చిందనే ఎలాంటి అనుమానాలు లేకుండా చెప్పవచ్చు. సెకండాఫ్‌లో ఆమె సినిమాను మరో లెవెల్‌కు తీసుకెళ్లారు. సరస్వతి పాత్రలో ఉండే మానసిక సంఘర్షణను సహజసిద్దంగా తెరపైన చూపించారు. విష్ణుదేవ్, అరుణ్ పాత్రలో నటించిన అబ్బాయి ఎవరూ ఊహించని విధంగా తమ ఫెర్ఫార్మెన్స్‌తో అదరగొట్టారు. ఎప్పటికప్పుడు సరికొత్త పాత్రలతో ప్రయోగం చేస్తున్న ప్రియదర్శి.. చాణక్యగా మరింత మెచ్యురిటీతో నటించాడు. మిగితా పాత్రల్లో నటించిన వారందరూ అద్బుతంగా కనిపించారు.

సాంకేతిక విభాగాల పనితీరు విషయానికి వస్తే.. నికేత్ అందించిన సినిమాటోగ్రఫి చక్కగా ఉంది. తిరుపతిలో ఉండే దివ్యత్వాన్ని, అందాలను కెమెరాలో చక్కగా బంధించారు. మిడిల్ క్లాస్ లైఫ్ ప్రతిబింబిచేలా సన్నివేశాలను అందించారు. వివేక్ సాగర్ మ్యూజిక్ మరో స్పెషల్ ఎట్రాక్షన్. క్లైమాక్స్‌లో సన్నివేశాలను అద్బుతంగా ఎలివేట్ చేశారు. రానా దగ్గుబాటి, సృజన్ యరబోలు, సిద్ధార్థ్ రాళ్లపల్లి, న్యూ ఏజ్ క్లీన్ ఎంటర్‌టైనర్, సురేష్ ప్రొడక్షన్స్, ఎస్ ఒరిజినల్స్, వాల్టెయిర్ ప్రొడక్షన్స్ బ్యానర్లు అందించిన నిర్మాణ విలువలు బాగున్నాయి.

ఫ్యామిలీ ఎమోషన్స్, చైల్డ్ సైకాలజీ, ఫన్, మదర్ సెంటిమెంట్ లాంటి అంశాలతో రూపొందించిన చిత్రం 35: చిన్న కథ కాదు. సరదాగా సాగిపోతూ అప్పుడప్పుడు సున్నితమైన అంశాలతో మనసును తట్టిలేపే చిత్రం. అయితే కథలోని మెయిన్ పాయింట్ విషయంలో కొంత లాజిక్ మిస్ అయ్యారనే ఫీలింగ్ కలుగుతుంది. దానిని సరిపెట్టడానికి ఎమోషన్స్ దట్టించిన తీరు బాగుంది. లాజిక్‌లు వెతక్కుండా చూస్తే మంచి ఫీల్ గుడ్ చిత్రం. ఈ మధ్య కాలంలో వచ్చిన మరో మంచి ఫ్యామిలీ డ్రామా. ముఖ్యంగా పిల్లలు, తల్లిదండ్రులు కలిసి చూడాల్సిన చిత్రం. నివేదా థామస్ ఫెర్ఫార్మెన్స్‌ను ఇష్టపడేవారు మీరీ చూడాల్సిన చిత్రం. థియేట్రికల్ వాచ్ ఉన్న సినిమా ఇది. మంచి అనుభూతిని పొంది బయటకు వచ్చే సినిమా అని చెప్పుకోవచ్చు. ఇది ఏ మాత్రం చిన్న సినిమా కాదు..

సిగరెట్‌ తాగితే ముఖేశ్‌లా మీ జీవితం కూడా అయిపోతుందని ప్రతి సినిమా ముందు చూపిస్తారు. ‘రెండు గాజులు అమ్ముకోవాల్సి వచ్చింది’ అని చెబితే, దాన్ని సోషల్‌మీడియాలో మీమ్స్‌ చేసి వాడతారు కానీ, ధూమపానం చేస్తున్న ఇంట్లో వాళ్లకు కనీసం వద్దని చెప్పే ధైర్యం కూడా ఉండదు. నిజమే.. సందేశాలిస్తే సినిమాలకు ఎవరొస్తారు? అయితే, థ్రిల్లింగ్‌ ఎలిమెంట్స్‌తో కూడా సందేశాన్ని ఇవ్వొచ్చని దర్శకుడు పవన్‌కుమార్‌ ‘ధూమం’తో నిరూపించారు.

తన తెలివి తేటలు, పదునైన మాటలతో సిగరెట్‌ కంపెనీ ఎండీ సిద్ధార్థ్‌ అలియాస్‌ సిధ్‌ (రోషన్‌ మాథ్యూ)ను మెప్పించి ఉద్యోగం సంపాదిస్తాడు అవినాష్‌ (ఫహద్‌ ఫాజిల్‌). తన మార్కెటింగ్‌ స్ట్రాటజీలతో కంపెనీ సేల్స్‌ పెంచుతాడు. దీంతో మంచి జీతం, సకల సౌకర్యాలను ఆ కంపెనీ ఇస్తుంది. ఒకరోజు ఎండీ సిధ్‌ (రోషన్‌ మాథ్యూ) నిర్ణయంతో విభేదించి అవినాష్‌ తన ఉద్యోగానికి రాజీనామా చేస్తాడు. కంపెనీ నుంచి బయటకు వచ్చిన తర్వాత అతడికి ఎదురైన పరిస్థితులు ఏంటి? అతడి భార్య దియా (అపర్ణా బాలమురళి) శరీరంలో మైక్రోబాంబు ఎందుకు పెట్టారు? ‘ఏదైనా ఐటమ్‌ బాగా పాపులర్‌ అయితే అది కొందరికి అది నచ్చకపోయినా దాని బ్రాండ్‌కున్న ఇమేజ్‌ను దృష్టిలో పెట్టుకుని, ఇతరులకు మాత్రం బాగుందని చెబుతారు. ఎందుకంటే, అదొక ఇమేజ్‌ చట్రం. చాలామంది దానినుంచి బయట పడేందుకు ఆసక్తి చూపకపోగా, ఇతరులు ఏమనుకుంటారోనన్న మొహమాటంతో నిజాన్ని ఒప్పుకోరు’ ఈ మాటలు చెప్పే అవినాష్‌ ఉద్యోగం సంపాదిస్తాడు. దాన్నే సిగరెట్‌ సేల్స్‌ పెంచడానికి అన్వయిస్తాడు.

సినిమా మొత్తం ప్రస్తుతం సిగరెట్‌, పొగాకు ఉత్పత్తులను తయారుచేసే కంపెనీలు తమ వ్యాపారాన్ని పెంచుకోవడానికి అనుసరించే ప్రణాళికలు ఏంటి? ఎలా మార్కెటింగ్‌ చేసుకుంటున్నాయి. (Dhoomam Review) ఈ సినిమాలో సిగరెట్‌ కంపెనీ యజమాని అయిన సిద్ధార్థ్‌ కారులో వెళ్తూ అవినాష్‌తో ‘ఇక్కడ కనిపించే ప్రతీ మనిషి రోజూ నాకు రూ.300 ఇవ్వాలి’ అని అంటాడు. అంటే అక్కడున్న అందరితోనూ సిగరెట్లు కొనిపించాలని అర్థం.

లాభాల కోసం సిగ‌రెట్ కంపెనీలు వేసే ఎత్తుల‌ను ఆలోచ‌నాత్మ‌కంగా చూపిస్తూనే, ఆ బడా కంపెనీలు వేసిన వలలో నుంచి ఓ యువకుడు, అతడి భార్య బయటపడేందుకు ఎలా పోరాటం సాగించారన్న దాన్ని ఆసక్తికరంగా తీర్చిదిద్దారు. అవినాష్‌, అతడి భార్యపై దాడి జరిగి తేరుకున్న తర్వాత ఇద్దరి మధ్యా జరిగే సంభాషణతో కథను మొదలుపెట్టాడు దర్శకుడు. (dhoomam telugu ott) ప్రస్తుత కథను నడిపిస్తూనే అవినాష్‌ పని చేసే కంపెనీలో ఏం జరిగిందో అతడు చెప్పే ఫ్లాష్‌బ్యాక్‌తో నాన్‌ లీనియర్‌ స్క్రీన్‌ప్లేతో కథ ముందుకుసాగుతుంది.

Siva Karthikeyan’s Varun Doctor has been creating a lot of buzz in Tamil circles. The film’s Telugu version is out and let’s see how it is.

Varun (Siva Karthikeyan) is an army doctor by profession. He falls in love with Padmini (Priyanka Arul Mohan) but she rejects Varun seeing his practical nature. The twist in the tale arises when Padmini’s niece gets kidnapped and Varun gets involved in the case. How Varun being a doctor saves the girl and breaks the kidnapper nexus forms the story.

Plus Points :

Siva Karthikeyan is the biggest highlight of the film as he showcases a different side to his personality. He as an army doctor evokes good comedy, drama, and carries the film on his shoulder. Siva’s chemistry with Priyanka is also neat in the film.

The comedy works for the most part and the scenes featuring Yogi Babu and Priyanka’s family are very good. The director Nelson has showcased the thrills in a very different manner.

The film has dark humor and is executed quite well by Nelson. The message showcased regarding women’s safety in the film looks good. Also, the thrills in the pre-climax have been executed well.

Minus Points :

One of the drawbacks of the film is the liberty taken by the director when it comes to the crime showcased featuring women. Though the message shown is good, the incidents that happen in today’s digital world look a bit overboard.

The second half has a few lags here and there. The screenplay is not that effective during this time and makes things boring a bit. Also, the story of girls being kidnapped has been shown in films earlier as well.

Technical Aspects :

Production values of the film are top-notch as the visuals look gripping. Music by Anirudh is okay but as usual, his BGM is riveting. The camerawork is decent but the dubbing could have been better.

Coming to the director Nelson, he has done a passable job with the film. His story idea and the way he has set it also look good. But his screenplay falters a bit in the second half. He makes proceedings a bit routine and ignored the logic. Verdict :

On the whole, Varun Doctor is a kidnapping drama that has decent thrills and comedy. But things get bogged down in the second half and a few logics go for a toss. The Tamil audience might like the film as it suits their sensibilities well. But for the Telugu audience, this film ends as just a passable watch this weekend.

Anaamika Telugu Movie Review | Nayanthara Anamika Review

Nayanathara’s ‘Anaamika’ is releasing today across the world in Telugu and Tamil. The movie has been directed by Shekhar Kammula, who is known for making strong story based movies. Viacom 18 and Logline Productions produced the movie, with music from Keeravani. Let us check out the movie now. Story :

Anaamika (Nayanathara) comes to India from Gettysburg USA, in search of her missing husband Ajay (Harshavardhan Rane). She reaches the Old City area in Hyderabad and starts looking around for her husband in the Galaxy Hotel area, where he was last seen.

She also files a complaint with the local police station. As an NRI and a single woman, she is quite fed up with the attitude of the police officers who refuse to take her seriously. However, one man comes to her rescue and that is Inspector Sarathy (Vaibhav Reddy).

They begin searching for her missing husband but very soon, big forces come into play. The Home Minister (Naresh) gets involved in the matter and he tasks Officer Khan (Pasupathy) with the recovery of a hard disk that is central to the mystery.

The lives of Sarathy and Anaamika are in danger, as ruthless people try to protect a dark secret. How Anaamika gets to the bottom of the mystery and solves her problems is what this story is all about.

Plus Points :

Nayanathara is simple and effective as Anaamika. She has portrayed various emotions convincingly. She has pulled off two extremely contrasting emotions of fear and revenge quite well. Vaibhav is good as the sympathetic police inspector. Harshavardhan Rane has a brief role and he has done well.

Pasupathy and Naresh do their bit in small but important roles. The galaxy hotel manager is funny at times.

The second half of this movie is very good. Speed of narration is really good and all the dots in the mystery have been connected well by the writers. When compared to ‘Kahaani’, there are some changes in the story to make it more appealing to Telugu viewers, like the addition of a sex starved CI who lusts after Nayanathara.

There is a good emotional angle to the film and this becomes more evident as the movie reaches its climax. You can identify with the pain that Nayanathara is going through and you want her to win.

Keeravani’s background music is brilliant and it is a major plus for the movie.

Minus Points :

There are a few unexplained gaps in the story, but these are answered to a certain extent during the ‘Addam lo Ammai’ song in the rolling titles. Many people walk out of the theatres during such scenes and they might miss these clues.

Some scenes and mystery links should have been explained in a more elaborate manner by the director, as viewers in C centres etc may not understand the subtle points of the plot. The scenes where Vaibhav finally realises the truth etc are an example. The movie’s appeal will therefore be limited to A centres and multiplexes only.

A slow and slightly boring first half can affect the movie. Had the first half been as racy as the second, we would have had a brilliant suspense thriller on our hands.

Technical Aspects :

Cinematography is very good and is in keeping with the mood of the film. Shekhar Kammula has revealed in an interview that we intentionally went for harsh lighting etc for this movie. Editing is very good in the second half, but could have been better in the first half. We have already spoken about the brilliance of Mr. Keeravani

Shekhar Kammula is a talented director and he redeems himself with a very good second half. His strength lies in showcasing various human emotions in a very sensitive manner and even in a suspense thriller, he has managed to do that. He should have taken better care about the first half though.

‘Anaamika’ is a very gripping thriller that surely deserves a watch for good performances from Nayanathara and Vaibhav. Keeravani’s terrific background score and clever writing help the movie significantly. A slow first half lessens the impact a bit, but overall, this is a nice film from Shekhar Kammula.
